They love this “run the government like a business” canard coz it conjures images of efficiency and accountability. The reality is, it’s about increasing profits for the few over the wellbeing of the many. If the government operated the way a business does, the citizenry should rightfully revolt.

I need someone to explain to me why it’s always “if you can’t pay rent, buy fewer lattes and avocado toasts” and not “if you can’t pay your employees a living wage, buy fewer yachts, rockets and presidents”. Explain it to me like I’m in kindergarten.
