❗️Our next workshop will be on February 27th, 6 pm CET on Decomposing within and between person effects in longitudinal data with SEM in R by @dustinharaden.bsky.social ! Register or sponsor a student by donating to support Ukraine! Details: bit.ly/3wBeY4S Please share! #AcademicSky #EconSky #RStats

Here are some cool animations I made a couple years ago for teaching DAG-based causal inference Confounding!

🚨💫🤖 RLDM Workshop announcement: "Game on: Leveraging Gamification in Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience" Contributed talks submissions now OPEN: shorturl.at/0p0Jd Looking forward to seeing you in Dublin! w/ @luiantaverra.bsky.social & @ingrdmrtn.bsky.social

Hello everybody, we are excited to be here! 👋 We will share news related to the psychiatric and neuroscientific research we do, as well as news about our Institute as a whole. Happy to connect with all of you! 🥳 #science #neuroskyence #PsychSciSky

Excited to be in Frankfurt today, presenting at the Heinrich-Hoffmann-Saal at the Department of Psychiatry! Will show off some of our latest computational and psychophysical tools for measuring interoception, as well as some shiny new results! Thanks to @neurometabolic.bsky.social for hosting!!

#statConfR provides functions to fit 9 different static models of confidence/metacognition for binary discrimination tasks with confidence ratings, including WEV and the logistic noise model. Also fits meta-d'/d'.

1/3 Tutorial on exploring ecological momentary assessment data is online at AMPPS, with: - Accessible ways to visualize data for better understanding - Models to get some first insights - Further reading boxes for more advanced topics - Reproducible pipeline you can run over your own data

Lovely/comprehensive review of metacognition and functional neurological disorder; a condition that demands a metacognitive interpretation: doi.org/10.1093/brai... The emerging picture aligns with findings in psychopathology more broadly—metacognitive performance is often equivalent to controls.

💡 When making choices—like picking a flat, a job, or a romantic partner—when should we stop looking and commit? Our new study from @rhulpsychology.bsky.social published in Communications Psychology explores how biased expectations about future options shape our decisions. 🧵👇

And my dance moves are still as lame 6 years later. Well done @goneill.bsky.social - awesome data with many, many applications for future naturalistic experiments with neurotech 👏🧠📷📹

HOT OFF THE PRESS - Back in 2019 we started asking ourselves what could you to demonstrate where werable, OPM-MEG technology could fit into naturalistic #neuroskyence. One snag, we'd have to build the system from scratch first... Anyway its 2025, read the paper here -> doi.org/10.1162/imag...

Finally out 🎉 - Our new paper explores the neuroimaging and computational differences of reward anticipation in kids with and without psychotic-like experiences. Well done, Pritha Sen, for the great work!!🤩 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Are flat priors really justified when estimating behavioral correlations between subjects? It seems weird to believe that correlations magnitude of abs(r)= 0.8-1 are as equally likely as r = 0-0.2 when working with psychological data, as we know the vast majority of all correlations are r < 0.4.

Dear colleagues of the MEG community I have recently commenced a project at Aarhus University, Denmark, called: Re-integration of the cerebellum . Therefore, I am recruiting a Postdoc for 2½ years to begin September 1st 2025. The deadline for the application is March 20th 2025.

watching my model sample counts as work right

"The quickest way to your man’s heart is through the right ventricle by way of his tricuspid valve, as he explained (with diagrams) on your first date. The second quickest? Ask him whether microplastics disrupt the body’s fragile hormonal balance. (A budget-friendly pick.)"

1/10 🧠 We need better ways to measure brain excitability in psychiatric disorders. The prefrontal cortex—key target for brain stimulation treatments—is particularly hard to assess. Our new studies tackle this with systematic mapping! bit.ly/4cjHknX & bit.ly/3PW8RCx

Psilocybin, the active compound in magic mushrooms, alters perception and induces hallucinations. In this preprint, we show through visual illusions, fMRI and modeling that psilocybin affects contextual computations, a potentially general mechanism of psychedelics. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Friends, I have written you a book on forensic metascience. It is free. You can have it. Happy St. Valentine's Day. If you wish to give me a gift back, you can use it to cause trouble - the greatest gift of all. open.substack.com/pub/jamescla...

We have an opening for a 12 month Research Assistant post, funded by an ERC grant. The postholder would help with several neuroimaging projects, including MEG and 7T fMRI. Please repost and share with anyone who may be interested. www.ucl.ac.uk/work-at-ucl/... #neuroskyence #Neuroimaging

Goodnight friends. We end today with this quote for ourselves and for our new secretary of HHS.

🥳thrilled that our dockerHDDM tutorial paper, after many years's work was published in my dream journal AMPPS of @psychscience.bsky.social 🤩 👇 doi.org/10.1177/2515.... The image's been downloaded 10K+⏬ docker Hub Such a pleasure to work w/ Wanke, Ru Yuan, Haiyang & member of HDDM/HSSM team!

ahhhhhhh yes

a lot of responses failing to engage with the actual thesis of the paper. tldr: it is not about the generic 'soft' interdisciplinarity of studying cognition, but rather the original, specific view of cognitive science as a unifying enterprise with a shared thesis. as a cognitive scientist, I agree..
