I recommend he listens to side 4 of Pink Floyd’s The Wall.

I think this makes him authoritarian, but for other reasons I do think he is a fascist.

Agreed. I guess it’s worse. I wonder what is worse than the Great Depression.

It was also tried by the US in 1930. It was called The Smoot Hawley tariff Act. Trying to remember what happened next. Err. Oh yes, The Great Depression.

We all want to live in a world when there is a need for only modest defence spending, but sometimes, in order to get there, you have to spend quite a lot. It’s hard to know what’s required, maybe many of today’s political problems were caused by austerity, but we appear to be coming to scary times.

This is what’s called satire. I am
sure most people understand this, but it appears some people don’t have a clue what it is. If you had lived in the UK during the 1980s when we had Spitting Image you would understand.

If I were Arsenal I would pick a coach that has a very similar name.

It’s an excellent article, I am tempted to say compulsory reading for anyone who ventures an opinion on this subject. But although it says free to read, I don’t think it is, and that is a shame.

Interesting and disturbing feed. It seems town squares are being taken over by bad actors. This is not good.

Interesting information. Can you tell me where you get the data from?

Twitter can still be a useful source of information if you only look at tweets from people you follow — also, if you can change the mind of one just MAGA person it is maybe worth reading all the poison.

Well there is a correlation between being thoughtful, having an inquiring mind, and posessibg strong critical thinking skills, and thinking voting for Trump would be madness.

The Independent is a decent newspaper— I would be inclined to believe a report like this when published in this publication.

Such a disappointing move by the government. You say “There might be a case for a CCS programme if…money for cheaper and more effective projects had already been committed.” I would go further, CCS nearly always crowds out superior renewable technology investment, but fossil fuel companies like CCS

As I say, circumstances differ. I’m thinking of a particular conference when the headline speaker was barely 25% through his talk when his time was up. I gave him plenty of warning, and had to stop him, but he went over, I don’t react well to the suggestion that this makes me a bad moderator.

What you say is correct most of the time, but like everything else in life, sometimes it is not so easy. Not everyone is the same, and there is a thing called judgement.

I don’t agree. I have moderated many events and sometimes it is incredibly difficult to stop a speaker.

Sometimes it extremely difficult without being rude — and a good moderator is never rude to speakers.
