The world needs social media platforms with the courage to embrace the downvote.

Downvoting gives the platform credibility and is probably the reason why so many Google searches end with the word “Reddit”. Its community discourse is trusted.

Okay, I've got a story about this, sort of. The best place I've ever experienced, "Let's go" as a cheer is during the Paris Marathon. The french equivalent is, "allez!" (like, al-laaayy!) Everybody yells this at you as you run, but, each at their own, unique tone and cadence. It's so wild.

Genuine question. For big, live events, what’s keeping Netflix and companies like Fastly from simply piggybacking off a traditional satellite feed and digitizing that?

This also applies to any accumulation of snow except a blizzard, which for some reason has the opposite effect. Everybody's out.

I stood next to her on the F train once in NY.
When I told this to my coworker later the same day, he correctly berated me for not saying a hello…
“When do *poets* ever get recognized on the train?” He said.
Fair point.

This is all well and good, but it makes me wonder if my wife understood that when she said, “I do” on our wedding day, it meant sometimes sleeping next to a very silly-looking man.

I have a trip to London coming up next week and someone recommended I practice sleeping upright with a neck pillow, eye mask, and ear plugs.

I like it too.
It reminds me of Twain’s famous quote, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”
I wonder if they’re related or if the similarity is coincidental.
Sounds like two different meanings, either way, but still close.
