My fellow travellers (šŸ˜‰) were not ordinary Americans in that they were, um, travellers. But we can hope there are enough of them to lead a fight-back. I was encouraged by sharing some great sights and long conversations.

Iā€™m certain thatā€™s right.

Iā€™m in New Zealand and havenā€™t seen anything. But broadly speaking thatā€™s right.

Heā€™s definitely looked good thru middle. Thereā€™s also another wide player arriving so perhaps they *want* Onel to be option at 9. Thereā€™s always a reason for doing stuff we donā€™t understand or disagree with. Of course stuff doesnā€™t always work!

He has been v effective there in other games.

Theyā€™ll have tried that in training, I imagine.

Onelā€™s played there 3 or 4 times this season (quite well) and when Sarge came on at 9 he didnā€™t get a touch so I think problems run a lot deeper than Onelā€™s role. šŸ¤·

I know. But it was 3 minutes too much.

Yes, dread extra time and/or pens at away games. Even worse when I was journo filing stories. Had to send most before knowing result. šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Pah! I dream of only having that far to go ā€¦ because I lodged in a cottage on Nearherd Moor (back when men wore woad). šŸ¤“

Weā€™re ahead of where we were this time last season. I firmly believe you have to take any chance of playoffs etc and not assume weā€™d get another crack quickly if we donā€™t succeed this time. We certainly need to glean more away points though.

He foisted sporting director Rugger wallah Clive Woodward on Harry Redknapp. CW said: ā€œIā€™d like to coach soccer: happy to start with under 10s sideā€. Mentioned one off top of his head. I checked, they had a dad whoā€™d bothered to take and pass FA coaching course. Harry saw off Woodward.

All laws in any sphere of human endeavour are applied haphazardly. eg few shoplifters are prosecuted. That doesnā€™t mean that those that are donā€™t deserve to be punished. Donā€™t waste time on ā€˜yeah but x did yā€™ whataboutery. The only thing we can/should/must control is our playersā€™ self-discipline.

Very good points.

Oooh, yes. Most of that had gone from my old head.

I think all squads have an inherent propensity for frustration turning to ill-discipline unless itā€™s obvious from day 1 and every day that it wonā€™t be tolerated. Decades ago I watched Graham Taylor stop a Watford training/coachjng session to make a point about it.

Bellars was a stroppy little whatsit, but I donā€™t recall widespread ill-discipline. šŸ¤·

3) Donā€™t get caught up in whataboutery, conspiracy theories or angst about FA. This is least self-disciplined NCFC era I can recall. Deal with that and we stop self-harm.

2) Cordoba, already cautioned, makes daft challenge (sent off, we concede again in seconds). If Sainz spat at opponent (neither club nor he have denied that since it was alleged) ā€¦
