NEW: Senator Marshall (R-KS) RUNS AWAY, fleeing his own town hall after being asked about DOGE firing Veterans. MAKE HIM GO VIRAL.

What's interesting about this, and the reaction to this, is that there is a very clear reason for this exceptionalist rhetoric about "leading". Europe is leading on Ukraine. Unquestionably. If the UK were to acknowledge that, then that would call into question the whole point of Brexit. 1

You have to wonder whether he ever read the magazine he edited. Once again, the Andrew Neil chapter in How They Broke Britain sets the scene rather well…

Wow! The number of @bsky.app users just passed 32 MILLION! 👏 LETS DO THIS!

Fuuuuuucking helllll

Musk: "In Europe they put people in prison for memes". From that get-up, he was obviously off his tits. Both Lettuce Liz and Fartrage are at this "gathering". Given all of the memes I've posted about those two, I should be doing a 10-stretch about now.

Peter Kellner's article in @theneweuropean.bsky.social sets out the issues that Brexit has caused to the British economy before hitting this key argument: The problems come from being a third country. 1

Fashion retailer New Look is to exit Ireland and its 347 workers around the country are facing redundancy

There's a rumour that Nigel Farage is keeping his head down because he's off to a Trump cheerleading conference over the weekend. I’m afraid I’m being proved right- Farage is far more interested in Trump's success than British security. He is a bootlicker and a plastic patriot.

www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f... I’m half expecting a pile on - but isn’t this an overreaction?

Blumenthal: "What world is he living in? It is not only contrary to the facts and the truth but utterly despicable. A disgusting betrayal of a country that has bled and fought and died for freedom ... the president's surrender is pathetic and weak."

A small village in Spain's sparsely populated northeast, is experiencing a revival after a refugee centre opened there.

As promised to @nialloconghaile.bsky.social here are my thoughts on Brexit, Britain, MAGA, Munich and our joint future. www.roterotemedia.com/roteroteblog...

I’m in Munich and people keep asking me to decode Vance’s speech. OK: In Vance English “free speech” means “Let Musk run your elections” and “democracy” means “let Russia run your elections.” Now move on. 2025 is about what Europeans do, not what Americans say.

Genuinely not clear where this is at. Hearing both that Gib gov and UKG refused to move further on the talks. But also heard since that UKG is using Gib gov as an excuse not to engage. Either way, the terms are broadly set for Europe 1 www.politico.eu/article/brex...

#BanX

This is worth a watch.

Canadians adapting to Trump’s threats by cancelling holidays to US, buying Canadian, and rewiring their trade to Europe and Asia. 👏👏👏 🇨🇦 ♥️🇪🇺

6 questions, 3 scotches.

“Terrified of their own people” Remind me which leader asked about shooting his own people?

🚨🚨 Whatever your views on PM Starmer this is a very important and welcome message he is sending to Zelensky and #ukraine, which is very much needed in light of Trump/Hegseth's betrayal. 👇

For Brits who are confused the absolute shitshow going on with Trump and Musk, there's a great conversation between @lewisgoodall.com and @simonmarksfsn.bsky.social State capture and corruption on an unimaginable scale www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1lj...

Tax wealth, not work #PoliticsLive

The curious thing about billionaires defying the rule of law and the orders of the court, is that their wealth depends entirely on enforceable legal rights: contract, property, and so on. Those saying court orders have no value need to be careful what they wish for.

The only thing you ever need to read about Cummings is the @vizcomic.bsky.social cartoon. Perfect encapsulation of his character and work.

1. UK food standards are not the same as Europe's 2. The UK has a different tariff regime in a difference customs area to Europe 3. M&S may have misunderstood the point of "Not for EU" It is good that they're pointíng the finger are Brexit, but the rules are there to protect Europeans. 1

in light of the news about the poor economic growth forecasts in the UK and warnings about interest rates, here's a handy public service announcement from my good self. You're welcome.

Embarrassing reporting from the Daily Mail. Canada announced this billion dollar border plan almost two months ago

Talking to my Canadian friends, it has clearly not gone unnoticed over there that the EU is showing more solidarity with Canada on Trump's trade threats than the UK, with whom Canada shares a monarch. London says it stands up for the commonwealth. But not if it involves standing up to Washington?

Long thread on how Brexitism started and evolved over 75 years, drawing from Benjamin Grob-Fitzgibbon's 'Continental Drift'. Global Britain, Free Trade, Cakeism, Federalism, anti-federalism, EEA, Winston Churchill, Empire, 52-48 referendums, Enoch Powell, 1975, Thatcher.... It's all here. /1

Sorry to say, Roland, but it is a stupid idea. For two reasons. Firstly, this outer tier that you're talking about has been a remains fantasy. Why? Because Europe is a polity that works precisely because it has clear demarcation and structure, in particular over decision making. A 🧵

Seeing as everyone is writing Brexit anniversary pieces, I thought I'd give it a go. Brexit for 🇪🇺 didn't begin in. 2020 or even 2016. Brexit began during the financial crisis, with UK blackmail. A 🧵

A clear, rational explanation shutting down fearmongering from an idiot. 👍

"optimism has drained as Starmer appears either committed to this hardest of Brexits or too worried about the next election to risk losing the votes of red wall Brexiters. But really he has nothing to lose."

Is France facing a Greek-style sovereign debt crisis? No. At the height of the € debt crisis, Greek govt was spending almost 20% of all its revenue on interest payments. France is spending less than 4% (even less when subtracting interest paid on debt held by central bank).

Listened to the Brexit anniversary @quietriotpod.bsky.social on the Brexit anniversary. A good pod and well produced. There was one short section, opened up by PM May's citizens of nowhere speech, where @alexandreou stated that leaving Europe will be problematic for English identity. A 🧵

Happy kick yourself in the bollocks/box day ! 🙄🙄

This is possible, thanks to a lot of help from journos.

just giving this a bump. I accidentally deleted my bluesky account recently (I was trying to delete my x account) so I'm starting from scratch again. hit follow if you remember me. If not, no worries.

May be of interest to some of you. Plenty of great accounts to follow for different perspectives. go.bsky.app/4uNDGqF
