“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Worth reposting!

Trump’s “golden age” was actually called the “gilded age” aka era of robber barons. Paradise for plutocrats; hell for plebs. If you voted for this, you believe you owned the libs. But: the plutocrats own you. www.studentsofhistory.com/gilded-age-r...

Europe can’t rely on the strength of the transatlantic relationship to help contain Russia’s threat – it must lead from the front and be the true force of support that Ukraine needs. Not just for Ukraine’s sake, but for a free and sovereign Europe.

Folks, I don't intend to post about every single horrible thing that's happening at the moment because I'm not a direct news source and also because my mental health has an upper limit. Don't confuse lack of obsessive news updating for lack of concern or lack of personal action. Also, here's a cat.

Oh just bugger off you racist arsehole. Nothing like that is happening

This is what we called state capture in South Africa. Stop it fast, otherwise you will struggle to get a functional system again. Our excuse: we have only had democracy since 1994. What is yours? www.bbc.com/news/world-a...

If this little face looks at you while you're working, you HAVE to get up RIGHT THERE and chuck a few nuts. Even if you're on a deadline. That's just what you do.

Goodnight Bluesky ✌️

The FAA is facing its first major aviation disaster in 16 years without a leader because Elon Musk helped push him out. The former FAA administrator stepped down on Jan. 20th after Musk called on him to resign. Musk was angry after the FAA fined SpaceX for failing to get approval for launch changes.

So far so good.

Just say it.

Goodnight Bluesky.

I know you all already know this, but this is going to get really bad.

if they want to go back to the 1950s, we’re bringing the cuisine back to the 1950s too. you put me in the kitchen, I will spend 100% of my time in there finding how much horseradish and shrimp I can put in Jello before God personally comes down here to stop me.

I was skeptical at first, but Bluesky really is a fantastic platform for scientists who want to engage in broader public conversations. Thank you @bsky.app and @jay.bsky.team for this amazing resource!
