Part of what the right has exploited in American politics for decades is this obsession with civility. They can misbehave all day long, but if you violate the norms of civility they will cry that decorum has been ruined.
Eastern Europeans don't care about decorum. Especially during a war.

...unfortunately you really can't. This has been most dramatically exposed in relation to the pseudoscience around COVID, but it's widespread.
Again, EBM+ at the coal-face, yes. Sometimes shortcuts are all there's time for.
Just important not to build guidance that way.

Also, actions that abandon participants in mid trial are a clear breach of the Declaration of Helsinki - that alone should be grounds for expulsion
