Nate’s dad was there too, and that’s also Arthur’s father standing with them. It’s a whole family affair.

Where do I apply?

This also applies to tv show adaptations of games and how the actors don’t have to look or act 100% like their animated counterparts. 🙃

What does this mean? 😬😅

Exactly. People travel to learn about and connect with other cultures. But that’s not always possible with wildlife. Zoos are essential in educating people about animals and their habitats. The more that people are exposed to other worlds, the more likely they are to care and take action.

That’s where a much of the other 40% of zoo funding comes from.
My focus is on human rights—trans rights, repro rights, immigrant rights. There aren’t ticket sales for those fights. We rely on donations, and in my state, it costs $1M just to get a citizen-led initiative on the ballot.

No one’s arguing that humans haven’t harmed ecosystems or that zoos are above criticism. But they’re also doing the work to repair that damage—they’re essential and that was my point. If you’re saying we should donate more to wildlife, many people already do, and no one’s stopping you.

“Google random org and sift through thousands of results to find random statistic bc I’m unable to provide an actual source. You know nothing btw and don’t have any sources.”
LOL. Have a nice day. I’m super not interested in your rage bait, bad faith argument. ✌🏼

I’d love to know where you got these numbers from. The White House?
15% is actually closer to the percentage of animals that are eligible for release back into the wild.

What are you doing to get people to donate then? If this is the hill you want to die on, then do something about it.

How do you think zoos afford those research and conservation efforts? Maintain the habitats and care for the animals?
60% of funding comes from tickets, merch, etc.
Observing the animals in their habitats is educational, and helps to fund the work that protects those species in the wild.

Um. Zoos play a crucial role in wildlife conservation and education. They not only raise awareness about animals and their ecosystems, but also actively protect and restore populations of endangered animals. NTM that zoos conduct essential research that support those global conservation efforts.

A little research goes a long way. Most zoos are accredited rehabilitation centers where they care for sick and injured animals until they are ready to return to the wild. The animals you see in the zoos are often unable to return to their natural habitat for whatever reason.

Helios + Epic but it depends on what’s exhibiting at the Academy Museum. When it first opened, there was a Miyazaki exhibit and it so was fucking beautiful with a completely immersive experience. 😍🥰

There were several other comments that qualify, for sure, and I agree that slut-shaming is uncalled for when there is plenty to criticize her about. The comments calling her a wh*re for this are absolutely insane.

Are you actually serious?
Ableism refers to the discrimination of disabled people. Lauren Boebert is not disabled, nor is she being discriminated against in this post.

It’s not disparaging to point out the absolute hypocrisy of this woman.

This is neither an example of ageism or slut-shaming.
It’s strange that you’ve taken this personally. Have you slut shamed women for pre-marital sex, or controlled womens’ bodily autonomy, used language like “body count” or “low” or “high value”?
If not, then how does any of this apply to you?
