Game Dev I made Gun Knight All Day. I've got some small projects on itch and sometimes I make little youtube videos. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2073630/Gun_Knight_All_Day/ https://midgemakesgames.itch.io/ https://www.youtube.com/@itsmidge

A good friend of mine just released a chill instrumental album today. He's the guy who did a couple of short songs for my solitaire game and I've known him since elementary school. Check it out if you're interested! creepchurch.bandcamp.com/album/castin...

Super basic thing I learned in davinci resolve today - how to import videos into the timeline without the audio track. This is useful because adding the clip and then unlinking and removing the audio track tends to displace other things that I don't intend to move. 👍

I really enjoy making youtube videos. Writing out an outline and recording the audio feels like work. But when I get to the part where I'm editing, adding pictures and video. That part is just fun for me. My stuff is pretty amateurish, but I enjoy the process.

I really like the Firebelley codereview series. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJR-...

Are visual novels mostly horror or dating sims?

I kinda want to play Snatcher. I saw it briefly as a kid because my neighbor rented it once, but it was not age appropriate. I found out yesterday this was a Hideo Kojima game.

Honestly surprised when I see people announcing their game with a devlog#1. Seemed natural for me to start at devlog#0. Some programming languages do start array indexing at 1, but most start at 0.

New stupid mistake I made in godot, accidentally opening a newer project with an older version of godot. Wondering why my previously working code is all of a sudden having errors. Source control tipped me off showing some project version settings that I didn't remember changing.

Microsoft has a page listing game engines (and some frameworks) that were written in C#. I thought it was cool to see some of them that I didn't already know. dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/apps/g...

Posted by @deanhall.bsky.social on reddit, anyone using #Unity needs to take a serious look at what is going on. This is a direct threat to hundreds (thousands?) of studios and tens of thousands of indie developers with games built on Unity. www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/co...

I really like this one. www.etsy.com/shop/TheArto...

Here's a few Screens of my Outrun for Game Boy Color demo. Almost complete now. 🌴 #pixelart #indiedev #gameboy #retrogaming

Someone put original police quest in 3d, pretty cool. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfJm...

Made a generic 2D Radial Menu script for #godot. The code and explanation are available at the @thegodotbarn.com . thegodotbarn.com/contribution... #gamedev #uiux

Firebelley is doing some Godot code reviews. This one contains a behavior tree implementation among other things. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyvs...

Anyone know where the 100 humans vs 1 gorilla discussion started? I've been seeing it all over the place lately.

What is the lifespan of software? What if you make software that's silly and full of whimsy? Will people remember it? Anyway, here's a video someone recently posted of “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan performed through the composer feature in Mario Paint, a game released on Super Nintendo in 1992

that's all

Saw this elsewhere. Apparently it was in the manual. I wish I read the manual more closely as a kid.

The Foot Clan provided an essential third space for these kids to hang out and decrompress and be creative, but Bush I and Clinton destroyed it with budget cuts 😔

Watching different videos I heard about GOAP - goal oriented action planning. I might want to mess around with this. Here's a reddit post with a demo video. (I didn't make this) www.reddit.com/r/godot/comm...

Saw this one online. What's pretty unique about the game is 1 shot kills on pretty much everything, enemies, you, bosses. Western themed 6 shooter. Looks pretty neat, nice twist on the genre. Haven't played it yet. store.steampowered.com/app/2441270/...

I think I gotta play arctic eggs. It's just so weird. I keep hearing about it.

Godot has #regions in code =) Just learned this. I like using it to group things.

Bluesky is collegial and interesting, the way Twitter used to be. Bonus: most people can spell.

Our NES puzzler Soko Banana is in good company in this video featuring 40 awesome homebrew NES games. Check it out! www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSHW... #homebrew #nesdev #gamedev #indiegames #sokoban #nesmaker #nintendo

A guy was asking online how to do a retro snake enemy, and I was like, hey I can do that! Nice little godot project just for fun.

I haven't played any of the last of us, but I've been enjoying the show. Reading about the game - pretty brilliant to make the player control characters that they may not want to empathize with if the story were in another medium. Forcing the player into their shoes. (No spoilers)
