“Are you going to mask forever?” I don’t know… are you planning to spread Covid forever? Masking keeps people healthy. It’s necessary because as a society we’ve refused to do anything to reduce airborne spread. It protects the wearer and those around them. Easy choice!

A good thing to do if you are flailing a bit right now (as who is not??) is to get in touch with your own values, the things that you find life affirming and necessary in the world. Read some inspiring works about things you value - labor solidarity, scientific achievement, social justice.

Forgive me, my friend, but I did not buy you anything to show my affection, not flowers or chocolates not jewelry or a stuffed animal and I am not planning on taking you out to dinner, but should you see me please know, my friend, that I am wearing this mask because I love you.

Tuberculosis outbreaks in Kansas and North Carolina and yet I’ve not seen a single media outlet mention wearing masks. In fact masks are banned in North Carolina. A good respirator protects from more than just Covid. The people deserve to know how to keep themselves safe.

Egg prices are through the roof due to unmitigated H5N1 Tuberculosis outbreaks in Kansas and North Carolina. COVID still killing & disabling people every week. Public health agencies barred from communicating with the public. Wear a respirator. For yourself and your community

Chicago! You still have time to come hear me talk about the end of the Universe!

If you have never read Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, now is a very good time. Book saved my dang life and continues to inspire and keep me sane in difficult times. Be Most Excellent to Each Other✨

🚨ATTENTION FLGS & OTHER RETAILERS🚨 Alliance is in bankruptcy proceedings so you can't order our titles (Blades in the Dark, Monster of the Week, Stewpot, etc) from them. You CAN order directly from us. We offer you distro prices and free shipping starting at $99. Email us at [email protected]

Learn to communicate directly. Stop with the hints and the passive aggression. If you need something, ask for it. If there is a conflict between you and a friend/loved one, talk through it honestly with them. If there is a problem, bring it up.

Writing my own stories is still helping me to breathe and even find joy, during this flaming-sewer moment we're in. And there's good news! My writing advice book Never Say You Can't Survive is now a paperback! How can you focus enough to write? I have some thoughts: buttondown.com/charliejane/...

If you’re a writer who is finding things to be overwhelming right now, why not buy yourself a copy of @charliejane.bsky.social’s NEVER SAY YOU CAN’T SURVIVE: HOW TO GET THROUGH HARD TIMES BY MAKING UP STORIES. It’s a fantastic read and as the name implies it’s designed for moments like this one!

If there are any gov workers out there who are looking for a sidekick to sort out what to do from here, my door is open and the sliding scale is there for you: everythingchanges.us/coaching/fees

By the way, if you aren't already doing so, it's not too late to start masking again to protect yourself and others from COVID, the flu, and other illnesses, especially since the CDC is no longer allowed to tell us of spread. Masking shows you care about community. Do it.

Trump has started a trade war with China, Mexico & Canada—all at the same time. We have a bit of time to prepare for price shocks If you're not already thinking of yourself as, essentially, trying to survive a war time environment, may I suggest you consider it's time to shift into that mindset...

Back in 2020-2021, I wrote a book about how to survive scary hard times by writing your own stories and getting lost in the imaginary worlds you create. So this feels like good timing: Never Say You Can't Survive is just $2.99 in ebook formats for just one day. us.macmillan.com/books/978125...

"You can’t keep yourself alive by sacrificing the gifts your life brings to bear." Mandy Brown writes brilliantly as always.

I was reminded tonight that there is a difference between “doing things to take care of myself” and “rest” — and that both are essential. And, also, that I won’t be able to do what I want to do for others, individually and broadly, unless I do all of that. A good reminder to many now, I imagine.

Software engineers of the world, I beg you. Stop disabling copy and paste in password fields. Sincerely, Someone with non-human memorable 20+ character passwords generated by a password manager.

I'm once again asking for a show where a librarian, a bookseller, and a carpenter travel around helping people manage their out-of-control book collections. Discuss their sentimental value, their rarity, their histories, then build amazing book nooks and shelves and little libraries to organize them

"Disrupt" is code for "Destroy reliable established services so that money previously widely distributed now funnels into a single source." Just like "AI" is code for "Mine the work humans did in the past so we don't have to pay them for their work in the future." That's why VCs like both words.
