I distinctly remember the shitpost “make Iraq great again” pen tabs in 2017-2019. Would not shock me if Trump twisted Razin or someone on his staff with one, to someone specific wearing a MAGA Hat in a meeting. Or it’s an entirely made-up fabrication.

Trump’s a massive unreliable narrator who’ll make up military stories to rile up his base. I really doubt that ever happened.

Trump is the biggest unreliable narrator on military stories. I’d bet the farm none of that happened.

What have you heard? That’s uncharacteristic for him, and any officer of his billet even before he retired.

If they slash the CAF manning requirement you’re going to get people killed. A lot of people killed. And for what?

Am I worried? Shaking in my boots? No. We’ve been flying our own advanced systems (and have acknowledged it as such) for a few years now. We have incredibly sharp minds working on our equivalent capabilities. But this should remind the dear open-source viewer that the adversary is competent too.

To quote my good friend the_engi_nerd on the other website- The Chinese military-industrial complex is competent and should be respected as such. This should be seen as a legitimate threat we will have to address in the future.

Preface that Maryland would also be the only state without a flying component to it after they lose the A-10, and the unit is already in Maryland, but still. Interesting budget play.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say it’s probably a write-off.

Friendly air defense taking you out is a serious concern from both land and naval based systems. Humans aren’t perfect, and when you throw them into decisions like this (such as constant harassment of shipping from cruise missiles), mistakes will happen. You just hope it doesn’t cost allies lives.

Land Grant schools are massive net positives and I won’t stand by their slander. Tech’s a meme but also picking UH over Tech? Bizarre playcall.

Congrats! It’s a great career to get into, if you’re willing to dedicate the time. The Diamond is also a fantastic little airplane.

Russiaphobia is such a strange term. One, it's hatred not fear, two, a phobia is irrational and excessive. The evidence says it's rational and measured to feel this way about Russia and, unfortunately, the hegemonic culture of modern Russia!

Surprise surprise… this is complex and requires complex systems. The first unmanned drone fighters one day are gonna be… complex And expensive.

No… it doesn’t. I will not elaborate further.

Not a whole lot different. ranting about long training pipeline for your planetary-based pilots and how Vulture Droids aren’t actually as good as manned systems. Buy more ships. X-Wing > Tie Fighter
comment in response to post
Drones also have the problem of having to connect to home station. Manned aviation doesn’t unless you disable the pilot I can’t speak details, nor would I if I could, but EW is a big issue for unmanned systems for this exact reason.

Additionally, going off of his Twitter thread… he advocates small, short range drone swarms that really don’t work for a conflict in, let’s say, WestPac. If you’re running Drone F-35 with cruise missiles, cool, still doesn’t deal with the issues already mentioned.

You could argue Armed Conflict is the highest level of Drama but that’s neither here nor there. Elon is wrong on this for a few big reasons, but the idea that you can just sub drones in for manned Stealth aircraft’s is a flawed one. The problems he brings up aren’t caused by men in the cockpit.
