When I was 12 years old, I wrote to @stephenking.bsky.social telling him that I wanted to be a writer just like him. I didn't become a novelist, but I do horrify readers with medical history. Every time I write a book, I send him a copy hoping, as I did as a child, that he may someday see it.

When people I care about show me AI-generated Studio Gihbli-style pictures, I tell them the truth. They don’t know but Miyazaki was famously disgusted by AI. This is breathtakingly disrespectful. They’re shocked. They didn’t know & want nothing to do with it. It just feels wrong. Because it is.

The best kind of cycling infrastructure? An absence of car traffic. Any road or street without car traffic is usually a great place to ride a bike. This road outside Oslo has been permanently closed to car traffic. It’s one of my favorite places.
