I haven't seen Anora, The Brutalist, Nickel Boys or I'm Still Here so I can't give a complete opinion but of those I've seen, my Best Picture rankings: 1. Wicked 2. A Complete Unknown 3. The Substance 4. Conclave 5. Emilia Perez 6. Dune: Part Two I liked Flow better than any of them besides Wicked.

"Fraud, waste and abuse" is going the way of other words that have completely lost meaning, like "woke", "socialist", "unconstitutional" and other words the right uses to justify their destructiveness.

It is a serenity now type of day.

A commercial about standing up to hating people because they're different, on Fox, is rich.

Kind of hilarious hearing all the messages about togetherness and then seeing the jackass working so hard to tear everyone apart. The commercial about curing cancer while we're taking away all the funding for that was the cherry on top.

Eagles 24, Chiefs 20

This is one of the most hilariously ridiculous things ever.

A bit of Zen amidst the chaos. Whether it's a week of snow or a month of. ...whatever this is that we're living in. ...we're all just trying to make it through.

This is what I keep bringing myself back to. There may be speed bumps, big ones, but progress is inevitable. It's going to happen regardless of what this president and his sheep want or do. It may be slower than we want, harder, but it's going to happen. Also, I love Pedro Pascal.

As a Monroe resident myself, seeing Monroe's own Benson Boone perform on the Grammys makes me believe I can achieve all my dreams when I grow up too.

As it turns out, I'm a Chappell Roan fan.

Nothing makes me aware of how uncool and unrelevant I am like the Grammys.

Nirvana? Kim Gordon? I'm back in high school, apparently. And it's awesome.

As someone who has done plenty of emergency response communications, we are getting a master class in exactly how not to do communications in an emergency. Holy cow. This is why you need serious, experienced people in these roles and not people focused on owning the libs.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent. Opportunities are everywhere. Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

My blood has been boiling, but today at work we got a message from the Seattle U president & provost's office responding to Trump's transgender military ban. It asserted SU's support for those affected, particularly those in our ROTC program. (1/2)

Trans people don't even think about trans people as much as this administration obsesses over them. Everything Trump is doing is to hurt people he knows hate him, it's literally not helping or doing anything positive for anyone.

Well this sucks.

So, so, so happy. The most unique player of at least the last 30 years and one of the most exciting players I've ever seen. Not that it matters, but who didn't vote for him? WTF? I can't wait for my kid and me to head to Cooperstown to see him go in!

Ichiro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad that they're all gone now, but what an incredible legacy they left us.

The next few days will be a cascade of horribleness to anyone not a well-off straight white male, to anyone who cares about humanity, to anyone who cares about anything other than punching down on "different." It'll be followed by 4 years of chaos & nonsense masking truly horrible shit. (1/4)

Whaaattt??? You mean the con man guy who originally called for it to be banned is swooping in to save it and become a hero because he knows people won't remember that he first brought up banning it in the first place? You mean this was all a big stunt? I. Can't. Believe. It.

100 percent right. Every owner can do this. Investing in talent ends up paying for itself because great players want to play with great players. I'm not mad at the Dodgers. I'm not mad at MLB. I'm frustrated with my team's owners for not doing what they absolutely can do.

If the Dodgers want you, why go anywhere else? They are doing what every fan wishes their own team would do - spend money on great players to try to win a World Series. And great players want to play with other great players. I figured from the start he'd end up with the Dodgers.

RIP Harry Doyle, the best broadcaster in real or fictional sports history.

GOP members complaining about reduction of military standards while using a chart that misspells the word military!

I hate the framing of "the Mariners have $15 million to spend this offseason." No. That's what they may choose to spend, but they can spend whatever they want. There's no cap. There's no rule. It's a matter of how much they're willing to spend to win.

Well things have officially come full circle. I just got my first email from WSDOT inviting me to a meeting since I left the agency to come to Seattle U.

basically the new york times wrote one story/column for each of them

Media calling out a pro sports team - in this case the Mariners - won't make a difference to how that team operates. Neither will fans "boycotting" as it could never be done on a big enough scale to matter. A team is going to do what a team is going to do.

We're being led by a preschooler.

Took my kid to see him perform a free show at the Seattle Public Library many years ago and it was wonderful.

The Mariners are definitely on the phone with the Reds now.

Because I have no real life, I watched 13 movies during the free Apple TV weekend.

My first significant challenge of the New Year: Trying to learn the correct way to use skibidi in a sentence.

In 2023 I read 49 books, so I set a goal for this year at an ambitious 60. Well, didn't quite hit that mark as I finished with 54. So for 2025, let's keep the goal at 60. Also, all 54 books I read came from the library. Support your library!

Anyone who believes kids are just transitioning overnight and that's all there is to it should see my wife up late trying to wade through the paperwork of changing birth certificate, passport, etc, etc, etc. on this journey that started more than 2 years ago.

It depends on the kid, right? You expose your kid to all kinds of things and ultimately you encourage your kid to do what they're passionate about, regardless of what that is.
