I'm extremely skeptical that hitting children has any positive behavioral results and on the other hand seems to be morally & emotionally corrosive to the both the parent and child.

To wit about what I said about Massachusetts public parks not having restrooms; some towns don’t even have public parks. I lived in a town that had a town beach and playgrounds at schools but I don’t think there was a single standalone park.

Wisconsin has great city parks. I was trying to explain the other day that the town I grew up in in Massachusetts had literally no parks. There's were athletic fields associated with the elementary schools, but zero standalone parks, playgrounds, trails, etc.
