For context, the funding being terminated is 50% of Maine Sea Grant's budget. Cutting $4.5 million won't make a drop in the overall federal budget, but will decimate the program. Maine Sea Grant, like all Sea Grant programs, exists to serve the American people. The return on investment is huge.

I wonder if these positions will start to get flooded by American researchers, even on a temporary basis.
It's sad that we're at a point in time where that has to be a recruiting technique, but sign me up! I'd love to work in a stable democracy that supports science instead of hindering it
