I'm only a couple hours in, but I'm right there with you. The combat is one of the weaker parts of these games -- it often feels like you're just flailing at enemies and there's very little feedback. I hope they take cues from Avowed with ES6, that game actually has fun and weighty combat mechanics.

Is it confirmed that there are AI generated visuals in the new intro? I know there are sections that look like they could have been, but the artist's style is a little off-looking as it is.

Despite hearing so many great things about this one, I've yet to dust it off. Need to get back to UFO 50 at some point. Really loved some of those games, especially Velgress and Overbold. You have any other favorites in the collection?

I often think about replaying that one when I have downtime. Returnal has one of the most satisfying gameplay loops of any game released this decade.

Big fan of Velgress and its semi-sequel, Overbold. They have such a satisfying "one more try" kind of loop. They were the ones that completely hooked me until I had beaten them.
