TXF S02E04 Sleepless None of this would have worked without Tony Todd. How many shows have ripped off the Krycek reveal at the end? Lost did it like three times a season. Thank you, X-Files Wiki, for revealing why Gillian Anderson is only shot from the waist up or while sitting down all season.

TXF S02E03 Blood Well done with a beloved guest star but what really got my attention was this scene at the end. I could have sworn that text message said something different!

After playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game and Shredder’s Revenge over the past two weeks I have heard the “heroes in a half-shell” variation on the “Oriental riff” way too many times.

TXF S02E02 The Host The Flukeman! It’s another very Canadian visit to my home state of New Jersey but it’s creepy and more alien than their actual alien episodes. Gillian Anderson is especially good. She really sells these lines!

The Blue Sky Discover Tab People are routinely fooled by Borowitz Report links; they need their tenures revoked.

TXF S02E01 Little Green Men We return to The X-Files with a lot of Mulder voiceover and backstory, but the only actual action is him tormenting a Spanish man and manhandling his corpse. Poor Jorge! I do like that the X-Files program doesn’t come back this episode—make us sweat!

My biggest crank opinion about modern Trek is that when Wesley showed up in Picard S2 and Prodigy they should have put Wil Wheaton in Traveler makeup as if travel itself transformed them.

I saw the NT Live theatrecast of this production and Scott does an OK job of *hinting* at the reactions: one character makes tea, staring at where his next character will soon be standing. And he makes out with himself! But it overall felt a little too reduced.

Mulder says the order to shut down The X-Files comes from the executive branch—in a series with character names like Deep Throat, Cigarette Smoking Man, and Mr. X, why not thrown in a character named Big Balls?

TXF S01E24 The Erlenmeyer Flask The end of Season One! I remember being super excited by the surprise TRUST NO ONE in the opening credits. I also remember being shocked they would get rid of Jerry Hardin’s Deep Throat so quickly. But rewatching this season he was mostly a hindrance. Sorry, Jerry!

When you posted this I thought it was about Thunderbolts and I only today learned it’s about Anthony Mackie.

You’ve probably already seen it but Tom Noonan’s What Happened Was... is a well-done two-person talky film. Less talky but with some fun sci-fi twists is The Caller with Malcolm McDowell.

TXF S01E21 Tooms Skinner! He loves Mulder so much. On its own just an OK episode but it really sets the dynamic for the show’s balance between mythology and monster of the week. And that escalator kill!

TXF S01E20 Darkness Falls The glowing bugs coming through the air vents! I think of them every time I adjust the vents in my car. Also:
