MILLENNIUM ACTRESS is not my favorite movie, but when this song plays, it always feels like maybe it should be: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rNU...

Oh hey, the END OF THE WORLD HOUSE ebook is on sale @bookshop-org.bsky.social (among other places). $1.99 is a steal for a novel about time loops, art, friendship, the perils of the tech world, and the slow burn of the apocalypse bookshop.org/p/books/end-...

impossible

INCREDIBLE Ruling! Judge Reyes just ruled that transgender people have served honorably in the military, judges Trumps trans military ban - which states trans people are inherently dishonorable - as unconstitutional and motivated by animus. Trans military members may continue to serve.

Also, while I'm out here self-promoting, if you're interested in my early books—I regained the rights to them, and when you buy an ebook, I get paid! You can get 'em at whatever ebook store you prefer (they aren't on bookshop yet, but I'm working on it). www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/...

BUZZ KILL by @jrobertlennon.com is out today. The first book in this series, HARD GIRLS, is a fun, smart thriller (I recommend it highly!) so I'm excited to read this sequel.

My favorite review in a long time

Trump's State Department is denying accurate passports to all #trans & #intersex folks. The State Dept is accepting public comments for people to submit their concerns about the new passport policy. You can submit comments anonymously on the federal register website (all three links in this thread).

(1) I do think there’s a strain of thought, particularly on the left, that pretends that Dems are the primary characters of politics and the only ones with agency — which obviously isn’t true in a time when Republicans control all of government. (2) That’s *not* what is animating the Schumer stuff

Gawker always sucked It was a bad website that did bad things

reading back through my next manuscript thinking "what kind of lunatic wrote this"

This is good. I think there is something to the idea that the world does not provide young men sufficient useful guidance in how to love themselves and others in reasonable, healthy ways, but the manosphere provides the exact opposite, and men like it because the scam promises easy pleasures.

I think people are confusing their perception of reality for reality itself. “They dropped the ‘weird’ thing” can be disproven by showing late campaign appearances where they definitely say it, but the claim isn’t based on reality, it’s based on what people saw on their feeds.

This is blood-boiling. Charles Rogers was awarded the Medal of Honor in Vietnam after being wounded three times leading the defense of a position. Google his name and the entry below comes up. When you click, you'll see the page has been deleted and the URL changed to include "DEI medal."

Pass it on

Yep Listen I have heard decent arguments for not doing the shutdown and I think people of good faith can disagree about that but the way he did it was absolute clown shit. The man should not be leading anyone

A good reminder that even when it’s over, we can be so fucking back.

Huge march in New York today protesting the illegal DOGE cuts

I learned about Nubby's Number Factory while watching Tom Walker stream. His chat told him it was Peggle + Balatro and he made a Big Face. Bought it immediately, played it for hours. I made the same Big Face, bought it immediately, played it for hours, broke it on the third run. Beautiful.

Thousands out in NYC today to demand that DOGE… STOP THE CUTS!

The only reason this hasn’t also been treated like an alarming constitutional crisis concerning free speech is because people in positions of influence in the media, business, and politics at least tacitly agree with the aims of this movement.

“In addition to the parents and their 10-year-old sick daughter, four of their other children, ages 15, 13, 8, and 6, were also in the car when they were detained. Four of the five children were born in the U.S.”

fuck offffffffff

If they have a better idea as to where and how to fight they should start doing it. This isn't even what a majority of electeds wanted. But it happened. As always, the question becomes: now what?

yes

One thing I try to keep in mind is that while it's true massive damage, some of it irreparable, is being done right now, and that feels terrible, someday we may have the opportunity to work together to fix and improve things, and that will feel really good, even if we can't ever "get back".

One issue with bloc mgmt is that big swathes of LoC-aligned media are moronic nihilists, which means that “guy everyone is understandably mad at” & “guy who did precisely what everyone wants & is also very mad at first guy” are treated as The Same & the audience is left dumber than they were before

there is no reason to give up on the Democratic Party, because the Democratic Party has shown itself capable of becoming a ship of theseus over civil rights and jettisoning its own president to avert disaster, and no alternatives exist that are not the preserves of charlatans and grifters

If we can find some life and power in ourselves by collectively tossing Schumer into a well for a while I will thank him for his service

It's weird that nobody noticed till now but turns out AOC is the senate minority leader

I can't remember the last time I saw an article just focus on this. Not that they've bent the truth or misrepresented a few facts a little, but that every single solitary thing that the GOP says on the topic is a stone cold lie with absolutely no basis in reality. ftw.usatoday.com/story/sports...

Republicans’ partisan spending bill turns the federal government into a slush fund for Donald Trump and Elon Musk. It’s unthinkable that any Senate Democrat would hand them a blank check by voting for cloture.

I'm pissed off but I'm not going to wallow. Some things to consider: -The House caucus is rock solid, they and Jeffries know their job and they're doing it -A huge supermajority of the Senate caucus does too, or can be made to by constituent calls. That's more than enough to pick a new leader (...)

I think there is a very real chance to shout Senate Dems out of providing enough votes

So what would it actually take to swap Schumer out for somebody else? Not his seat, but his leadership role.

Okay NOW I am mad
