This is true in a legal sense (he is plainly not allowed to hold the office) but it's also true in a more fundamental sense: Trump can no more be a president than can a dog The fact we voted him in anyway doesn't mean he's any more qualified than a Pomeranian would be if it won the popular vote

illegal war started by a man constitutionally ineligible to be president

By the way, obviously, fuck this

My approach to the situation is that I get drunk and chill anyway and the chilling just has a weirdly intense vibe

Honestly never know what to do when it's Pride time here in Iowa City. Feels like I should do something fun? But, like, you know: what even is fun, if you think about it

no we're not www.foxnews.com/media/white-...

I don't think the danger with AI is so much that it will be fascist as that it will flood the world with garbage and people stop writing, reading, and talking for/with each other. I don't worry about what it will say in the emails it writes for me; I worry that someday I will let it write my emails.

Forget "can you pet the dog" All I want to know is "can you flush the toilet"

Taskmaster question: What is happening to everyone in the UK that gives them all such a terrible balloon popping phobia It's seriously like two in five people over there

Actually, it's totally fine to judge a book by its cover. Those things are designed by professionals. They're supposed to give you a sense of what's inside. Stop blaming me for all of society's problems.

Yes. This is it. This is a really clear way of saying the thing I've been trying to say for years.

I don’t think it’s possible to understand the Biden administration and Trump round 2 without recognizing that there was a growing fifth column of bosses — and journalists sympathetic to bosses — determined to ensure that the social movements of 2020-2023 could never, ever happen again

Mainstream media is simply not saying enough about roving squads of unaccountable secret police terrorizing American citizens. Every day, more violence, and it’s just… not a story.

There is nothing we can ever do to kill this idea because no one wants to believe there wasn't One Weird Trick or that posting better wouldn't solve everything

This show was a lot of fun and the opening promo, delivered in (what sounded to me like) competent Spanish, felt very good to watch.

ICE agent points gun directly at the head of innocent civilian—just for taking picture of his license plate. He drew his gun with one hand—while fumbling to open the car door with the other. The "agent" did not seem to be aware someone else was already recording his vehicle. Pasadena, California.

The US has denied the visas of all 12 members of the Senegalese women’s basketball team who were scheduled to travel to the country as part of their preparation for the Afrobasket tournament that begins in August. Afrobasket is also the African qualifiers for the Olympics. #wnba

Was dreaming of a really baffling, ergonomically terrible desk just now when I woke up

It's easy to forget now but we had decades of steady advancement on trans rights. The 2016 bathroom bills invited huge backlash! It was only after the media constructed sports and youth medications as 'debates' that opposition moved from the far right to the polite center.

If I had been able to hold my last three jobs simultaneously, I would have lost every single one in the last few months.

Hey maybe we should not use this app

CLARIFICATION : The Trevor Project's hotline will still be live. But basically this means LGBTQ people can no longer be connected to it through the US national 988 suicide prevention hotline. They will need to be contacted DIRECTLY So spread this around They can be texted. They can be called.

It isn't just elites. Normal people who encounter one hostile person with left-ish politics frequently lose their minds. I understand why it happens but man you have to be stronger than that

This is incredibly harmful BUT I want to make sure people understand that the Trevor Project’s own hotline will still exist & anyone (including queer youth) can still call 988, they just won’t be able to be connected to TP via 988. It’s hateful & cruel but there are still resources.

we were quite literally a single senate vote away from using the nuclear option to add DC and peurto rico as states and codify abortion and my rights. one more senator who's a carbon copy of a dem chosen at random would have a 98% of voting yes. some of y'all see the 2% and give up. it's pathetic

Shame on the Court and shame on the NYT for enabling them. Shame on everyone who did this.

I feel like I'm ready to group chat again

Half full, half empty. I'm the guy with a glass

Do people like Deltarune? I am playing Deltarune.

You kids wanna see a dead body? When increasingly vicious and bizarre assaults begin to terrorize her marriage, Mavis realizes that Hell isn’t reserved for the afterlife. And sinner or not, no one's coming to save her. Churchianity horrors abound, 02/10/26! torpublishinggroup.com/the-body/?is...

At 39 years, I am officially too old and too wise to wade into arguments where writers shout about how they would be getting paid what they're worth if not for evil capitalism But not too old and wise to make fun of them in my own feed. Writers aren't really undercompensated for the most part.

If you live in the United States, you are in greater jeopardy today than you were 6 months ago. So is your family. So are your friends & neighbors. Virtually all the important parts of the U.S. government created to protect us are being shut down, gutted, or marginalized. — @djrothkopf.bsky.social

I am weirdly good at getting my thoughts picked up and boosted by larger accounts in ways that do not help me build an audience at all

Yes, I think it's much more about this than the tax cuts, though of course those are nice too. It's about having power over workers, feeling that power, exploiting that power. And people in positions of cultural influence had relsted desires: an end to people feeling safe to criticize.
