Some old guy trying to make sense of the world before he dies and becomes stardust again. Oh, and if you look like a bot (few/no posts) I'm blocking. (Also Trump posters ... I'm politically blackouting until 2029.)

May I suggest Gisnep? It's a word-quote game: gisnep.com The quotes are usually pretty good, too.

a) is there anything in there I personally can do? b) what are the main takeaways?

Well, let's give it a try. Hope you can convince enough ... otherwise those folks just get fired and replaced with cult members.

a) You said we can't convince a cult so ... b) The black out will do this?

What are you suggesting? An armed uprising? Assassination? I don't think any of those are good ideas.

If you're talking numbers, no he didn't. Only by 4.5%. And it was close in 2016, he just got the Electoral college. Now if you mean his attitude, yes, he was bad about the losing.

No, no ... they're making the gov't INTO a cult right now! Or at least their trying. Get enough people in play and Trump (if he lives that long) could go a third term. And if the other 3/4s don't vote or vote poorly, well, it's the cult they wanted.

When are you running for President? With Buttigieg as your VP?

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Dunno. But if we don't, we're doomed to repeat this in 2029. This is the downside to a democracy: if the majority is a cult, then the government is a cult.

Good for him. Glad he found something to help. More power to him. Not my issue though.

looking for ways that make sense. what are you doing on 2/28? what's 5Calls?

This might be true ... in the past. I wonder if it holds in a world to tech and social media. I think it'll work better if the small group is covert and BTS. Time will tell.

I guess. Protests bring awareness and unity. But we had a lot of those in Trump's first term and here we are again.

I say go 100% tech. Remove the human error equation as much as possible. But make sure MAGAs aren't in control.

Gonna make a list of all of the sayings you highlighted.

You still have kings though.

I agree. But could you verbalize for me your subjective morality on WHY combating bad ideas is a responsibility, that apathy is not a virtue? What specifically in the pro-society, pain-reduction camp warrants this belief? Thx.

My 1 person non-spending at Amazon, etc. isn't going to affect anything. I might get behind a national effort if people can make that happen.

I'd like Dem leaders to up their rhetoric, up their legislation, up their tv appearances, up their litigation ... but without the violence and guns and threats.
comment in response to post
This was the same thought process used by MAGAs on Jan 6. Morality is in the eye of the beholder.

This crazy Bond plot twist is interesting ... let's see how it plays out.

Sooo biblical.

I am criticizing this approach because I don't want to waste my time. I can't come up with a better way. That's why I'm asking for ideas. When one asks for idea, they aren't asking from a position of superiority. You sound as frustrated as I do.

Thank you!

there's action with results and action without results. which do you prefer? however, I'm up for action with results ... got any other ideas?

saturated? unsaturated?

I think that might be all that really does: allow us to "feel" like we're doing something ... when we're not.

Other than voting what do you want me to do?

... or science ... or engineering ... or training ... or learning from historical tragedies ... or ...

It's an expensive thing to partake in and an expensive thing to learn ... as it should be. As probably learning to drive a car should be. As will hopefully be with flying cars if they aren't autonomous.

My point is I don't understand your point. You need a liscence...in the past, now, and in the future.

Bet your great-great-great grandfather didn't like the idea of cars over horses back in the late 1800s either. Yet here we are.

With proper technology it might be a lot less going wrong.

If they get required training and the licenses are strict enough, I'm fine with that. Teens fly airplanes.
comment in response to post
Average Joe's DO have pilots' licenses. However, not everyone gets one because of the cost, training, and desire.
