The foreign policy of a nation often reflects its leader. Our foreign policy is now churlish, acquisitive, brutish, impulsive, reckless, callous, boorish, expansionist, shallow, ignorant, exploitive, nasty, manipulative, corrupt and unethical. A reflection of our president.

Sad, sad, sad day when the freedoms and stability we have literally fought for are destroyed in a single meeting. Aligning ourselves with countries that we consider enemies is a disgrace and I’m disgusted and angry with those that put us here.

Chaos...Federal funds are now starting to affect Michigan libraries. Library of Michigan is continuing the hiatus for Public Library Services grants through 2025 & delaying the application and grant period for the Improving Access to Information 2025/2026 program. Status of LSTA funding is unknown.

Disturbing news for arts organizations.

Amid Trump’s crackdowns on DEI in the federal government, the National Endowment for the Arts is scrapping its Challenge America grants, which earmarked funds for small arts organizations that extended outreach to underserved communities.

The arts organizations who serve underserved communities throughout the country are the real losers in this.

Inspired by the installation of the Calder sculpture, which was made possible by a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts, the #GrandRapids Festival of the Arts has been celebrated for 55 years. In the wake of Trump's cut to the #NEA, the annual #festival is dead and over.

The economic impact of the arts in Grand Rapids will be felt for years to come by eliminating the arts.

The arts are the foundation by which our communities thrive. Appalling and sad that exceptional cultural organizations and projects will be shuttered immediately. Michigan arts, I am so sorry for the pain this will bring. 🥲
