Kinda destroys the whole dictator attack on Zelensky 😂

whenever I see Badenoch fighting Farage for the pro-Trump vote I wonder if she realises this is a small minority of the UK population (polling from October)

Mathematics Professor here is just brilliant!

On 22 January, GB News presenter Josh Howie repeated a homophobic slur linking the LGBTQ+ community to paedophilia. This is offensive, wrong and unlawful. Join me and @GoodLawProject to file a complaint to Ofcom  action.goodlawproject.org/ofcom-stop-g...

Wow! The number of @bsky.app users just passed 31 MILLION!👏 LETS DO THIS!

Like other economists I'm being asked to comment on Trump tariffs. We should do so - it's our job. But first we should make the point stated eloquently here by @alanbeattie.bsky.social www.ft.com/content/c26b...

No constitution in the world is strong enough to cope with one party in a two-party system becoming an extremist personality cult, judges who disdain the law for partisan gain, and a populace ignorant and/or destructive enough to reelect someone with loudly advertised dictatorial aspirations

Well put by Naomi Klein in Doppelgänger. (Even before Trump 2)

And for what?

Very happy to be able to debunk the Telegraph's "1 in 12 Londoners is an illegal migrant" lie (repeated here by the hapless Emma Webb) on BBC Sunday Morning Live today (at 10.40am, about 10 minutes in). www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

The @Telegraph, @thetimes, @MailOnline & @TheSun publish corrections to their scaremongering on undocumented migrants in London. Imagine between them the reach & power of these papers. The fact is they are using that power to instil Trumpist hate & we are ill-equipped to resist.

When something is a success, people like to associate themselves with it. So it's noticeable how quiet the Brexiters are. inews.co.uk/opinion/brex...

Approx 95% of analysis of 400 jail sentences over the riots were for real world participation, with Rotherham (57), Southport (43) among the more serious. Bristol (34) is third, but only 7 in the Tamworth disorder. At least 22 people (5% of cases) jailed primarily for online incitement.

Well said, Pete Buttigieg

only one in five LEAVE voters think that Brexit has been more of a success than a failure, that is nuts

'Even if the BoE is cautious with rate cuts in the first half of this year, we see room for the rate to fall by more than the market expects' www.ft.com/content/1149...

Today's ONS population projections assume a linear decline in net migration from 730K in year to June 2024 to 340K in year to June 2028. But in fact we know from visa data migration is almost certainly falling much faster than this. www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopula...

Laura Kuenssberg: “What’s your evidence in this case that his crimes were anything to do with a lack of integration?” Kemi Badenoch: “That I believe is one of the elements. My evidence is my personal experience.” So no evidence, then. www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/badeno...

I *really* hope that events don't make this pastor a latter day Martin NiemĂśller. But the number & identity of prominent people currently excusing or denying Musk's Nazi salutes does not fill me with hope.

What did Obama say to George Bush at the #inauguration today?

The Farage factor.

Excellent NYT interview with the outgoing U.S. ambassador to Hungary. This is a key insight!

There are around 10k private school kids in Edinburgh. 51 have moved to state schools in January. As I've repeatedly said the effects of VAT on fees are going to be minimal. www.thetimes.com/article/ab42...

Reasonably chunky drop in gilt yields this morning. The GREAT PANIC of early 2025 has been wiped out.

Absolute garbage of a headline - what just happened is that a bill to protect vulnerable young people was voted through www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Elon Musk is amplifying far-right figures, spreading harmful disinformation, and meddling in UK politics. Let’s stop billionaire interference—join me and sign this @hopenothate.org.uk petition today: secure.hopenothate.org.uk/page/163807/...

This is important & necessary. I’d add only that a) It’s clear many of the political & media figures deliberately ignoring these facts are playing with the sort of fire we saw on our streets this summer & b) Laura Kuenssberg’s failure to point this out to Farage was an appalling dereliction of duty.

Keir Starmer has been living with his brother’s illness during the challenge of the election and the first hard months of government. Great strength and dignity from him, in contrast to the poisonous trolling he’s subject to.

BBC basically sitting unchallenged on Christmas Day, absolutely owning it. The politicians who like to speak about how irrelevant it is in an age of Netflix might want to take a moment to reflect.

If like me you’ve had enough of these individuals trying to rewrite history share these actual FACTS
