Because it’s playing in my ear now…

I just told someone that I couldn’t hear them and then immediately realized I could “hear” but not “process” what they were saying because I’m SO OVERSTIMULATED.

Typical educator, waiting until the end of the year to practice self care (quips the educator who, in March 2020 said, “I’ll wait until June to start chemo”.) I’m all better now and I hope you will be, too. :)

These are my husband’s actual preferred programming options. Lol

I appreciate and applaud your message, sir. When expressing gratitude to specific groups, would you consider helping to normalize including an oft-overlooked group?

I found a tape recorder at a secondhand store last month! New in an as-yet unopened box for $5. My 3-year-old grandson is obsessed and my “new” favorite gadget is the best $5 I’ve spent in a LONG time!

Literally just said this 3 minutes ago to my spouse.

I waited tables SO LONG ago that credit card usage made up less than 25% of sales on any given day. I loved it, despite it being actual work! I hadn't considered that cashing out might be entirely different. Can you explain a bit more about what that looks like these days? I wanna be better.

I love this approach! At my age, I am only seeking the perfect shade with the perfect staying power. It took 50+ years, but I’ve made friends with my appearance, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. I just cannot make peace with pink-reds and orange-reds. :)

Thank you for sharing! I’m one of those who was diagnosed with (and cured of) cancer in 2020, and I’m definitely not the same since then! Wearing red lipstick in everyday tasks somehow reminds me not to take things for granted (nor too seriously). :)

Sincere response: It’s me. :)

I cannot seem to abandon my quest for the perfect red lipstick (mostly because it infuriates me that it should be even remotely challenging, but I digress). Please share how you were able to walk away. And, no, sadly, masks weren’t enough to matter for me.

I teach grades 8-12 (languages, journalism, dramatic & visual arts), and I’ve also taught 300-level uni courses about pedagogy & brain development and metacognition. No matter what I’m teaching, I have students use concrete, metacognitive strategies daily. Have also been called “crazy” for it.

Community is one of the greatest defenses against the dark. I’ve been where you are (diagnosed the day the world shut down in 2020). The 🎵 of Dermot Kennedy was my lifeline. And if you’ve not yet, check out hystersisters.com.

Did it at The Ambassador Bridge. First he laughed. Then he reminded me that we needed to take it seriously.

12/10-1/20, there are 13 birthdays in my fam (and a few bffs to add in as well). Everyone gets their special day, not to be lumped into the general holiday extravaganza.

He did win once, sort of. Wile E chases RR into an increasingly narrowing pipe; they exit as tinier versions of themselves. To reverse it, they run back through. RR returns to size but Wile E stays small. RR “lets himself be caught”. Wile E holds up 2 signs: you wanted me to catch him. Now what?

I DO understand that it may sound like bullying. There is an imbalance of power for sure, but there really is not a reward for the adult to deny the student. In fact, the repercussions can be quite heavy for the teacher. &FWIW, high grades are not always a direct correlation of effective teaching.

I laugh (in solidarity) because this was nearly verbatim for me this week. They are permitted to revise work AND if they provide “evidence” of new preparation, they are allowed to retake tests and quizzes. If one isn’t doing well in my class, it’s due to illness OR apathy.

I just want you to know that I DO intentionally relax my jaw each and every time I see one of your reminders to do so. This has been life changing and I thank you!

When Reagan was in office, I met my husband. First, I got butterflies b/c he was cute (&popular). We spoke & I immediately felt at home b/c he was genuinely kind to me (a nerd). 10 minutes later he made me laugh & I fell head over heels in love. He’s still my best friend & we still laugh daily.
