Sunset over the Redhills, moon over Curragh and a flock of idontknowwhat heading north tonight

Curragh - sometimes the late walks are the best

sad.

“Be careful. When a democracy is sick, fascism comes to its bedside, but it is not to inquire about its health.” Albert Camus

I bought my husband a trip to Thailand as a Christmas gift, but really I just wanted a week off from being bombarded with sporting facts, stats and anecdotes.

Did you know that before the 19th amendment one of the reasons given for why women shouldn’t be allowed to vote was: “the mental exertion of voting would cause infertility in women.” This was clearly an idea coming from people who didn’t understand the mental exertion of organizing a household.

I have booked 10 Tesla test drives this week using fake details. I don't turn up to any of them.

Happy Imbolc 🌱

Because I think we could all use a little good news right now

A unanimous decision: This month's #WeeDote Award goes to The Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde

There’s a certain Slant of light, Winter Afternoons -

Tree and barely there cat. Happy Christmas all. Lovely to come across so many wonderful and fascinating people this year. 🎄

It would be so great if you could give my botanical illustration & mental health workshop below a RT if you have a moment. Thankyou 🌿

War and Peace: rare truce - I give it less than a minute

Tonight for the #LateLateToyShow I am going to get into warm pj's, make hot popcorn & drink a stroke inducing amount of vodka and red bull, just like I used to when I was a small boy #toyshow

This this this…. And growing up with crap (Irish) TV and being extremely bored..and ahem, Joseph Heller way too early but I vividly remember Frank O’ Connor and Maeve Binchy. Happy times!

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

I accidentally got a dadvent calendar instead of an advent calendar. A little older man comes out every time you open a door and shouts at you for letting all the heat out.

Poetry is the daughter of silence — George Mackay Brown, A Carrier of Stones, 1969.

And from my constituency, Kildare South, the "women should be breeding more" candidate is excluded and sent packing #GE24

Not participating in Black Friday because I'm against the relentless creeping Americanisation of Irish life and as a tiny artist I can't afford to, but will instead be doing Vengeful Hag Friday where for every print you purchase from www.ciaraioch.com I will fervently wish bad cess to your enemies

This is a Very Important Starter Pack of Biscuit Connoisseurs. For now, I’ve included people I personally know to have acceptable taste in biscuits. But if you’d like to be added to the list, just reply to this with your top three biscuits, in order, and I shall carefully consider your application

Rom-coms focus too much on budding writers, journalists, and hard-nosed professionals who fall for an aloof, obnoxious man with a secret heart of gold, and not enough on the love lives of Irish women trying to seduce a local Junior B player in the cold outside Supermacs at 3am

Love these starter packs - anyone know is there one around for Irish publishing yet?

Swirly misty skies on the Curragh this evening

Heartily recommend everyone should ditch Glendalough (crowded) and take up Slieve Blooms (empty). Below is Silver river out from Cadamstown. Perfect for a dip!
