"But what can I do, I'm just a person" I'd rather see small acts of community help rather than passive defeatism. Even if you manage to help just one person, that's better than none. Now imagine if everyone dropped the defeatist attitude and helped.

My usual way of putting it, even outside cases of artists being terrible, is that the artists you love didn't make you. They just fed you. Which is nice and important, but lots of people can cook, and you would've found something else to eat anyway.
