I like genre hair splitting as a forum nerd kind of thing to do, helps contextualize albums/bands/scenes in relation to one another, which help me understand how things fit together. I get that not everybody loves it and generally I think it’s fine to let people call anything whatever they want

i am not ashamed to say that my music discovery in the past year has been mostly spotify autoplay, mtv classics and my online friends posting links it feels so Real again idk! discovering music via tiktok sounds pretty cool too imo. the kids are getting fed new music again, i like that

I spent ages 12-22 discovering new songs and artists exclusively by listening to the radio and watching MTV, which is obviously "good" and "normal" and not at all the same as "being fed by an algorithm"

I know we get on people heavy for not doing their own research. 'The internet is free' yea but have you tried searching for something basic on the internet lately? Half the results look like scams. You click in and 80 ads and coupons pop up before you can actually get on the site. It's trash.

i was just about to return that mf too turns out the answer is to very VERY carefully watch it at medium high heat and AS SOON as it starts to pour, remove it from the heat and turn the heat to the lowest setting before starting the sugar beating process and briefly returning it to that lower heat
