Thankfully, someone who isn't eligible for the presidency (like someone who's sat 2 terms) can't run for vice-president. There's no mechanism by which Vance could resign and Trump takes power.

I think in general, everyone has seen the long term benefits of the 'experienced leader + promising youngster' dynamic (Danny+Max, Seb+Charles) in developing strong, loyal, and intelligent drivers. MCL's "Two # 1s" is good for short term success, but it won't breed loyalty to the team.

I think the shift from seeking Max to now is more a reflection of Toto's priorities changing. A few years off the top step and losing his star driver probably made him panic, but now he might see the value in spending a few years redeveloping with Kimi, come back stronger during the next regs.

I had the same thought re: two first drivers. I get wanting stability, but it kind of inevitably sends a message to Lando that he isn't automatically the priority for the future. But I suppose you can see the same happening with Max and George.

Lando had an extension last year too iirc. You'd have to wonder what the plan is there.

This is the modern book burning. Information should not be fenced off from the people because the powers that be don't like it.

Have you heard the Future Past album from Duran Duran? I listened to it as the opener went viral a couple of years ago, but there's some quality bangers on it for a 2020s legacy act album

One of the only modern cars with a similar longevity I can think of is the fucking Nissan GTR. Beyond that, you're likely looking at some commercial vehicle platforms, and both of those are far more likely to get regular maintenance and care than the Fiat was.

Unrelated, but thank god this arc is so short. Pikkon has basically no personality. And while I enjoy the more DB-style goofiness, there's so little actual story.

I know, and hybrids can't really use manuals either. I was going to mention EVs and hybrids, but figured that would look more like an anti-EV take over a pro-Manual one.

I'm sure I'll continue my track record of being so far behind the zeitgeist and have a Lynch phase in like 2 or 3 years. But I did always find him admirable as a creative and appreciated his insistence on doing things on his terms.
