One great thing about not believing in God is it doesn’t prevent you from being a good person. Some of the most kind, caring, loving and nonjudgmental people in my life are non-apologetic Atheists. You don’t need Christianity to be a good person. You just need to choose to be a good person.

Everyone was convinced that my soul was on the line and they convinced the Bishop to confirm me anyways. I reminded my mother of the deal she made with me and if she was going to make me do it then I would never go to church again. That was the last time I have ever been to church.

I argued that everything seemed to be a whole lot of nonsense. I reminded her that there are many different religions and types of religious beliefs, and all of them claim to be proclaiming the truth and it seems pretty obvious that all of it, regardless of the religion, is completely made up.

I was had to write a letter to the local Bishop expressing why I believed I should be confirmed. My letter was telling him why I didn’t want to be confirmed, which triggered a member of the church to take me on an emergency lunch to discuss the fate of my soul. We ate subs.

When I had to go through the confirmation process I questioned every single thing that I was told. I told my parents I didn’t want anything to do with it. My mother was so terrified I was going to go to hell that she told me if I went through with it I would never have to go to church again.

I was taught that priests take a vow of celibacy and devote their lives to God, and breaking that vow would be an unforgivable sin. I used to know a priest named Duke. When I was a kid he left the church and got married. That was the second thing that triggered me to believe I was being lied to.

When I was in kindergarten, I asked my mother who made God and she told me God always existed and nothing and nobody created it. Even as a kindergartener I was aware that something can’t exist without something else producing it. That’s when my basic curiosity about God turned into suspicion.

From the time I was capable of putting my thoughts into speech as a very small child, I started questioning the existence of God. The existence of God was not logical to me. The answers I was always given was also not logical to me.

Pretending nothing’s wrong is risky. It doesn’t make sense to protect what they’ve built by ignoring what’s happening. They have the power to make a difference.

For creators who rely on their channels for income, this is serious. If they don’t take a stand now, they might not have the same opportunities in the future. Using their influence to raise awareness could protect their rights and their creative freedom.

If trends continue, they might lose the freedom to create the content they want. Free speech is at risk, ignoring that won’t change it. This isn’t just about losing a platform or getting demonetized. It’s about losing the freedom to express ideas and have conversations without fear of censorship.

I get that speaking up about complex issues isn’t easy. It can be intimidating, especially with the fear of backlash or losing followers. But staying silent won’t make the problem go away.

Yet, aside from political channels, most creators are posting content like nothing’s wrong. It’s surprising, given the issues at stake.

I totally vibe with that.
