New year, new #promosky intro post. I go by Makoto, He/Him, 45 years around on this rock as a geek and a nerd. Programmer, cancer survivor, and prop maker. Some things I enjoy: Movies: Star Wars Marvel Games: Soul Calibur Magicka Anime: My Hero Academia Slayers Gundam Let's say hi!

I order a small army of robots around to get arms and armor to those in need

Looking over some of my orders from the year.. feels like a good mix of anime and games. And a whole lot of fun 😁

Test print.. still debating if I should modify the scale pattern, or leave it regular. Maybe I'll do both in the end, since I'm designing this #lightsaber to allow me to swap parts

Back when I worked at Lucas, my first business card had a neat embossed logo on it. I've always thought those cards were cool, so I figured I'd make some 3D printed plates to emboss my own cards now. Did a test, and it definitely works. .. now I just have to figure out a design to suit such cards 🤣

While I do try for general, ongoing printer maintenance, I also try for end of year overhauls. Put on a several hour playlist and check that all the bolts and belts are tight, make sure the bowden tubes are all clean and trimmed, deep clean and lightly sand the printing plates, check extruders..

It's kind of interesting to see how the plastic filament going into my printers can, over time, act like a saw and cut through the printer's extruder. Reminds me of the old stories of someone using dental floss to cut through jail bars...

Come on, Fusion, I know this is one of my larger models, but it shouldn't take an hour to exit for saving a 300 MB file...

Hey, neat, a request for a Zelos sword. I assume from Tales of Symphonia, in which case I made one like a decade ago for a good friend.. but that was from my CNC in foam and I think I can do better now, even though that was a really fun build. And a fun game since they wandered and I fought 😁

I.. think I broke this bluesky wrapped thingy..

Put the leftovers away, started the dishwasher (for almost all the dishes), now time.. for sleep. I don't mind all the cooking, but I am not cut out for the whole socializing thing...

Little bit of a late start getting the turkey in the oven and the rutabaga side started in the pressure pot, but I think I'm more or less on schedule for friends & family dinner today. Gift exchange had to happen before the cookery could begin. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Still not sure why Fusion wants me to save my projects to my account just to do local renders.. so I'll just start saving everything I've been working on this year as the same temp and doing a render 👍 #KindomHearts keyblades are fun, and I tried out a new chain design for printing with this one

Time for Christmas molasses crisp cookies.. again. This is my third 24 dozen batch this year since *somehow* they keep disappearing, and I still laugh every time I see this picture that normally hangs on the fridge of me back in when I was 20 doing the same thing... ah, I was so young and pale...

WIP, testing out some prints and paints for my silly lightsaber build. Color isn't quite what I want yet, but I'm pretty happy with the quality level my Ender 3 can give for such tiny parts given I didn't sand them at all, or even remove them from the raft yet

Much as I love finding this Render mode in Fusion.. now I feel like I'll never make my props up to the level of the render. And I already worried about that! Still.. pretty...

Now I'm just being silly.. well, on top of how this was just a silly fun project for myself anyway. But I'm also learning new stuff, which makes it even more fun 👍

If you're reading this, post a gif from a video game you love.

Between crashing Fusion using its time manipulation powers and several power outages, I lost a ton of work yesterday. But, I finally learned about Fusion's Render mode, which I probably would've learned about years ago if I'd taken a simple class rather than learning by trial and error...
