I saw a small ciborium (made in the second half of the 13th century in Lower Saxony) with a similar technique at the Schnütgen Museum in Cologne. But the quality of this antependium is amazing, and I’m happy to know about it ☺️🌟

I think that gluing is a particularly practical solution when a large amount of fabric needs to be attached to a manuscript. It allows for „quick“ and efficient mounting, especially for a Bible of this size.
