This is worse than the "Scott's Tots" episode of the Office

"Spine dislocation" is an uncomfortable phrase to read

If that’s true it is an incredibly sad state of affairs

I still can't get over the fact that he screwed up his job so bad that the owners of the team he works for - who are famously reclusive and unwilling to get involved in the team to a fault - had to fly to another city to fix it and he is somehow still employed

I know you're joking but I learned over the years there's actually a good reason why these people make so much i.e. the only way you can get them to sacrifice their humanity is the lure of unimaginable wealth

Thanks for answering my Q. Interesting! It really makes me want them to blow it up vs. continuing to sink more resources into a flawed roster-building strategy

If the Pacers wanted to win they would’ve played TJ the whole game but they didn’t so they won’t

Don’t forget about “Alignment” batting third and “Functional” at clean up

So the Red Sox are now just letting people learn on the job? The phrase “bush league” comes to mind

I don't get why everyone is so keen to trade Tyrese Maxey. I'm not saying he's a number one player but you surround him with the right pieces and the Sixers could be the Pacers. Their biggest problems are George and Embiid – they aren't winning anything with them at number one and two, healthy or no
comment in response to

As a thought experiment let's say the Sixers just decided to replicate the Pacers' team-building philosophy almost exactly, starting this summer. What would that mean for Embiid, George, the draft pick etc.?

Funny – you have a video of him fielding in here

The Bergman deal doesn’t look so good any more. If you told most people it was going to necessitate trading Devers away within a few months I think most would have preferred to stick with Devers. Maybe it didn’t *have* to be this way but the way he seemed to mismanage that situation is part of it

I truly believe Craig Breslow doesn’t know what he’s doing. Like he doesn’t have a baseline level of competence to be a major league executive

Which former reliever is the most likely to be the next GM? I'm assuming that's the pool of people to which the Sox are limiting themselves these days. My money is on Ottavino

I don’t often say this but I hope you will absolutely excoriate Daniel Levy for this decision. The first manager in my time following the club to actually win something and he gets canned. It’s easier for Levy to do this than admit he gave the manager a paper thin squad. Now back to mediocrity
comment in response to

Seems like what Daniel Levy most wants is someone who can finish fourth in the Premier League every year without actually needing to ever win anything
comment in response to
post
People are always trying to get Daniel Levy out of Tottenham Hotspur and I am always like OK so you'd rather have Jeff Bezos owning your club? There aren't any "cool" billionaires. If they were cool they wouldn't be billionaires

The team that is likely to crush them in the finals were unabashed, shameless tankers for several years though

Seems like this is a test case for whether or not Alex Cora has a job for life or not. If the Sox are seemingly comfortable with them playing this bad it would suggest he is never getting fired
comment in response to

You know what they say: It is easier to fire the coach than to confront the fact you've built your whole team around Trae Young lite

If Jonathan Franzen were writing a novel about a star third baseman who becomes a DH I don't think he would have been able to imbue it with as much drama as the Red Sox have the actual real-life version of this story. I legit can't believe this is still a story

Sorry dude. Just trying to joke around a bit because it’s been such a terrible run of games. I’ll take my brand of humour elsewhere

Do the Sox interview people before hiring them to run their baseball team? You know just to see if they are qualified for the job or not. Something to consider for future hiring processes if no

It drives me bananas when I'm listening to an album full of great original songs then some Bob Dylan cover sneaks it's way in. Everyone should feel this way
comment in response to

Cover songs should not be added to albums that are otherwise full of originals and should only be placed on "covers only" albums

If this team were rolling at the moment the Devers playing infield thing wouldn't be a big deal. But with this team oscillating between thoroughly mediocre and downright bad it suggests this front office just really doesn't know even the basics of how to run a baseball team

And yet Craig Breslow seems to be more intent on getting Devers to play every single position on the diamond than he is on building a bullpen that can get someone out. What are we doing here
