The Russians are likely not the only ones doing this. Another reason not to trust AI and LLMs for research, news, advice, or even simple queries.

Christopher knows what he's talking about when it comes to insider risk. Worth a read.

Good idea. Data center growth is largely driven by AI and cryptocurrency mining. Most ratepayers won't get value back from that by paying a premium on their electric bills.

Don't miss my latest CSO piece, which looks at the emotional health toll of major cyber incidents and how security leaders can ease the burdens on team members. I feel strongly about this subject and would appreciate a boost. www.csoonline.com/article/3829...

"Living library" is aspirational. To get there, AI needs to: Understand context, nuance Prioritize information by credibility, age of source Properly attribute sources Identify mistakes and lies Be more intuitive More broadly, add the same value as a human researcher, writer, or editor.

Over years, I have a few times called Musk a liar (across the country by 2016, then 2017) and thief (money for upgrades), on national TV even. Maybe that’s why my Twitter account has been blocked for a few months despite violating no rules. I can’t get it fixed.

In the last few minutes I've seen about 8 instances of the same Trump post that originated elsewhere. Just another dumb comment among many and not news. All this does is amplify his message. He wants you to do this. Please don't feed the troll.

I was recently in the main parking garage at Logan Airport in Boston, and there were far more big, heavy pickups than EVs. Glad this bill failed, but makes you question the concerns over weight.

Brian Krebs confirmed what I suspected. Like most people who worked for Path Network, Edward Coristine came from the cybercrime community, and was active as recently as May 2024 krebsonsecurity.com/2025/02/teen...

My local paper growing up. Always one of the best in the state.

This conversation is worth your time; 1.75x speed if you're in a hurry.

Atwater apologized for this strategy on his deathbed, but the democrats and left still haven't figured out how keep republicans and the right from defining their brand.

Like many carriage makers, McLaughlin did go into the car business and was later bought by General Motors to manufacture Buicks in Canada. This history provides hope that those resisting clean tech will eventually accept it.

Storage is the fossil fuel killer. "USA's median price of utility-scale battery storage plunged ~50% from 2022-2024."

It depends on how much they are lying about everything. Deepseek is good. It's open source. But they aren't transparent about the economics. At least from what I have read so far. Would love everyone in the industry to please opine !

That is exactly how organized disinformation works. Use social media to get gullible people to raise its visibility. Then well-meaning people repeat the message with the intent to counter it. In fact, they are amplifying disinformation.

Hear me out: you take the hard-won products of journalism, science, art and creativity, you use vast amounts of electrical energy during a time-sensitive energy transition to re-jumble the words and sentences, and then you present the outputs as being better and more trustworthy than the original

Nice video interview from the Petersen Automotive Museum with Alan Cocconi, a pioneer of the modern EV age. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wv9h...

Don't blindly use block list. Bad faith actors are weaponzing this feature to trick you into blocking accounts like ours. It's best to currate your own block list.

My 2 concerns with "set and forget": During warmer months we would not want/need cooling most of the time. Leaving the heat pump off during those times seems more efficient. On the coldest days, we would supplement with a woodstove, and the heat pump if on would fight with it to maintain set temp.

Thanks for this. I'm speaking with heat pump contractors, and they've been telling me to "set and forget," which I had my doubts about.

The New Hampshire House Transportation Committee is considering a bill that would ban EVs from public parking garages over weight and fire concerns. Clean Energy NH has issued a call to action for NH residents. us5.campaign-archive.com?u=a01ff991e8...

Local TV news, at least in the Boston area, consistently presents this story and the content moderation debate in general as a free speech issue. It's not, and this thread explains why.

I agree that Mark Zuckerberg announcing that Threads will now be a slightly less awful version of Xitter is an stunning gift to Bluesky

While we’re banning books… Finland is teaching children in school how to recognize fake news and propaganda as part of critical thinking and civic responsibility. Some of this will seem very familiar. Be. Like. Finland.

Yes. It amazes me that so few media sites offer the Bluesky share button.

THREAD: In 2023, I received an envelope with no return address. Inside was a flash drive containing tens of 1000s of secret files. It came from a vigilante with a tumultuous past, who'd conducted a years-long undercover operation. He didn’t tell the FBI or his family. He only told me.

Exposed does not necessarily mean the bad guys found and took the data, but properly configuring access to your AWS or other cloud databases is cybersecurity 101. VW certainly has the resources to do better.

"A request made through ChatGPT, an AI-based virtual assistant, consumes 10 times the electricity of a Google Search" This isn't a game. This is accelerated destruction via huge usage of power, water, resources etc. Stop using it - especially for messing about!! www.unep.org/news-and-sto...

This needs to be repeatedly emphasized: there's nothing about megaload growth that necessarily increases blackout risk to existing customers *unless* megaloads are prioritized over those customers. Fearmongering will not be conducive to smart decision-making. 🔌💡 www.utilitydive.com/news/explosi...

Two years ago, I marveled at how easy it was to get travel info about esoteric towns via the internet. So much useful UGC. This time, it’s been hell. Search returns AI bullshit, outdated reddit content, trip advisor spam, and gobs of autogenerated crap. Finding accurate info is impossible. Le sigh.

If you want to be an advocate for clean energy, then you need to understand oil market trends. This podcast is a good start.
