Thanks to everybody who chimed in! I arrived at the conclusion that (1) there's a lot of interesting stuff about interactions and (2) the figure I was looking for does not exist. So, I made it myself! Here's a simple illustration of how to control for confounding in interactions:>

Please RTπŸ™ Reach out if you want to help understand cognition by modelling, analyzing and/or collect large scale intracortical data from πŸ‘©πŸ’πŸ We're a friendly, diverse group (n>25) w/ this terrace 😎 in the center of Paris! SeeπŸ‘‡ for + info about the lab We have funding to support your application!

Our paper is out in Nature. By examining various inputs to the motor cortex during learning, we found that thalamic inputs learn to activate the cortical neurons encoding the movement being learned. Tour de force by Assaf in collab with Felix and Marcus. Congrats! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

πŸ—£I'm offering a paid internship in Kyoto, JapanπŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ Do you have a few months free this year? If you're a Master or PhD student confident in Java and R, good at data analysis, interested in simulations of evolution & want to come to Japan, send me your CV. Super happy #xCEBRA was presented as a peer-reviewed proceedings paper today at #AISTATS2025 by @stes.io et al! This extends #CEBRA with the ability to attribute specific inputs to latents over time πŸ™Œ πŸ“: openreview.net/forum?id=aGr... Code: github.com/AdaptiveMoto... Demo: cebra.ai/docs/demo_no...

How does this magic work? bsky.app/profile/did:... - like this is some great magic!

@kordinglab.bsky.social has convinced me on this point. I am a strong believer in the potential for foundation models to have a big impact in neuroscience. But, if we want to use them as "digital twins" to predict the impact of treatments, we'll need to train them on interventional data. πŸ§ πŸ“ˆ πŸ§ͺ

Looks like there's a pretty stark impact on attitudes about climate from being able to see a state change instead of just a gradual shift. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

ok so i know that journals will probably never pay reviewers but can't they at least introduce some incentive structure where you get publication costs waived for every 3 reviews you do or something? maybe not feasible if everyone wants to submit to CNS but you can centralize the incentive system πŸ€”

This is super cool!

Oh no! WE MUST HELP THIS TRAINEE WHO COULD FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS OF THIS CHAOS. If you are searching for a postdoc in the realm of social cognition, developmental change, or methods-related topics, please consider. /1

Consistent with the work of @jeremiahycohen.bsky.social and @mishaahrens.bsky.social labs, we find that serotonin axons in mouse visual cortex appear to signal recent visuomotor uncertainty (and unlike norepinephrine axons, they have no visuomotor mismatch responses) www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

New work! How does perceptual novelty impact the value of (physical) rewards: what are the underlying algorithms and neural mechanisms? The answers may help to construct smarter AIs and to understand how and why novelty seeking breaks in psychiatric disorders. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Here's a question I've been pondering: what would it take for an AI to be 'embodied'? I think an AI running on a computer inside a robot and controlling the robot body, could be called embodied. But what if the AI is running on a server, controlling a robot body via wifi? Is that still embodied?
