I am worried that the administration continues to double down on wildly unpopular bullshit while pulling every lever and smashing every window they can and we end up with a relatively small collapse at the top which let's all the most repugnant little state and regional assholes fill yhe void

Surely this will be limited only to LA this one time right? It would be unseemly for this to be just the first of many such deployments. Uncouth even

What a fucking week huh fellas?

In Providence we practice absolute freedom of religion 🫡

Let's take their money awayyyyyyyy, it's budget season babes

Words Beyond Walls: Writing to ICE Detainees at Wyatt Michael Nagle "would love to attend a protest, but he doesn’t have the energy to stand for hours at a time. Instead, he writes to detainees." steveahlquist.substack.com/p/words-beyo...

For @rhodeislandcurrent.com, I wrote about Fabian Schmidt, who was harshly interrogated at Logan and held at RI's Wyatt Detention Facility for nearly two months over a decade-old, adjudicated drug misdemeanor. His fiancee says, "We’re going to spend the rest of our life healing from this trauma.”

Ah, the ineffable "character" of a place that rapidly exploded in population in after the 1960s and has spent the last two decades declining in population.

"There's just nothing we can do" remarked the committee members, manically smashing the "against" button on their desk

I did an event during No Kings about how to write to folks at the center where ICE is detaining people in Rhode Island. A local reporter wrote it up. steveahlquist.substack.com/p/words-beyo...

This was the idea behind alt-weeklies.

I think a lot of the terror of the modern age can be understood by the fact that the Internet accelerated the development of the worst type of person, the "Anti-Intellectual Nerd."

Devout Christian except for all that hippy dippy "love" stuff

You heard the man, get out and support the SEIU

cycling over a freeway this morning i witnessed two cars sliding out of control and heard the resulting ear-splitting crunch out of sight. it makes me sick to my stomach that 80 years of oil & automotive lobbying have crafted a reality where this blood sacrifice is not only normal, but necessary.

I wouldn’t even wipe my ass with The New York Times at this point.

"The bill passed both the House and Senate with near super majorities but was ultimately killed in the 'semate cranks who will never pass popular legislation committee' , the Senate President is not required to send the bill to them, but always does so out of a sense of tradition and self loathing

Excellent demonstration of how cartography is political. Even if data were objective (lol it isn't), the way we put it together is deeply subjective and guides the reader to specific conclusions. When you look at a map, ask yourself what the message is. Could the map be made another way?

"Juana" is harvesting raspberries in CAs Central Coast. I've been doing this job for 10+ years. It's very tiring work. I have to move my hands very quickly. I get paid piece rate. The number of boxes I harvest, means how much money I take home to feed my family. #WeFeedYou

God I hate protests. They're just extremely not my jam. I've been in a lot and none seemed to amount to much. But showing up feels good. I ran into some neighbors. I didn't feel alone. Log off. Show up. #nokings
