Have you seen Tekkonkinkreet?

Tom Taylor Spider-Man! This is a damn good Spidey. Did I tear up at the scene where the other heroes cover the night shift so he can visit his aunt in the hospital? Maybe, you can’t prove anything

SHE-HULK! Can we get more comics like she-hulk please? Less world-ending stakes and endless events and crossovers, more fun, character-based shenanigans with superpowers?

These are earlier pages, but damn this comic is fun!

Ok I’m starting to fall asleep, but I will say that the IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comics are very good, and Tails went Yeehaw Mode, which makes this comic of the year in my books

Anyway, TLDR, it’s fun, please read if you like insanity, cool ladies and assassin clans themed like Pokémon gyms. Also, a dude gets annihilated by a french horn and it made me laugh SO MUCH

Also, pretty queer-positive! Gero’s sister is gay (she has a girlfriend, he starts looking for a partner to save her from being stuck in an arranged het marriage) and his dating coach is… genderfluid?? he identifies as male but presents femme and has no problem switching it up

It’s completely straight-faced despite the insanity, and surprisingly wholesome. The story is more focused on him making friends rather than jumping straight into marriage, and the women are all fun, fleshed out characters in their own right.

First up: Marriage Toxin! By far the most batshit insane thing I’ve read this year. Poison-themed assassin/bodyguard with no social skills tries dating, each lady he meets is more delightfully bonkers than the last, from the shark-riding art thief to the woman who controls hamsters like a Jojo stand

As someone who still tears up over this show on the regular and has a tattoo of Pearl's spear on her shoulder, I can't express what seeing this would have meant to me as a deeply closeted teenager. I hope kids Going Through It now can watch SU and feel hopeful.

For real though, this show is a treasure. I was listening to an episode of Secret Histories of Nerd Mysteries (go sign up for Maxfundrive btw!) about the colossal effort that went into getting this on the air, and... man. It's incredible. Steven Universe punched down walls.
