It looks to me like you are doing it right - the assets look great and on point for the style. It can be helpful to embrace the jank sometimes too - especially if you aren't like crazy worried about performance

I *think* that if your concern is performance it's better to use the smaller textures - but that's based on my limited understanding of @sr_jueves3d paper on using tiny textures hahah. I guess it depends on what you mean by "better" also. If performance isn't the issue then whichever looks best 😁
