Chevron made 8bn profit off Australian gas last year- $17bn in the last 3y. In that time it’s paid $0 in petroleum resources rent tax. We let multinationals sell our gas overseas for free while we struggle with a cost-of-living crisis. I’ll keep pushing for fair tax reform.

The big parties offered new policies for first home buyers yesterday. Labor’s addresses housing supply - the Liberals did not - but the economists say both will likely push housing prices up. The parties lack the courage for real tax reform: you’ll only get it from independents like me.

Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected community. Let’s keep Kooyong independent 🩵

Chag Pesach Sameach to the Jewish community of Kooyong! Wishing you a joyful Passover filled with meaningful seders, shared traditions, and special time with loved ones.

Renewables are the future. Solar is the cheapest form of electricity, and it’s pushing gas aside. We don’t need to put billions of taxpayers dollars into unnecessary gas pipelines doomed to become stranded assets.

Not sure which is more concerning; the Coalition’s extraordinary indecision on climate action or Peter Dutton’s inability to fill up a car with petrol.

Today I handed in my candidate nomination forms to run in the upcoming federal election.🗳️ Let’s do this Kooyong!

Peter Dutton’s making it up as he goes along. You can’t believe what the Liberals tell you.

Adding a battery to home solar saves families up to $1000/year on electricity. I've been pushing the parties for measures like these battery subsidies, to help homes and small businesses electrify. No one should be left behind in the energy transition.

Showing up for Kooyong 💪 Have a wonderful weekend everyone 🩵

Wonderful crew out spreading the good word this morning 💪 ☀️

The LF candidates’ forum last night was a fantastic opportunity to speak and listen to the community about the importance of climate action. Thank you to Lighter Footprints for holding this event- they’re an incredible, well respected local group at the forefront of community-led climate action.

What you will hear from the Liberal Party candidate for Kooyong on climate action. 🦗🦗🦗 2022 vs 2025

Happy International Transgender Day of Visibility 🏳️‍⚧️ Around the globe, the rights of trans and gender diverse individuals are being threatened. I know that many in our community are worried about those threats.

Let the games begin! Let’s keep Kooyong Independent 🩵

The 2025 election has been called for May 3, marking a crucial time for our country. Serving as the member for Kooyong has been the privilege of a lifetime. Let’s work together to keep Kooyong Independent, and continue to do politics differently.

Come on Albo. Call it already. Kooyong’s keen.

6 weeks out from the election, no major policies from Peter Dutton. Nothing significant on housing, cost of living, tax reform, health or education. Just cash splashes and thought bubbles. Want real reform? Vote Independent. (With thanks to mattgolding)

Kooyong, we won the week! Happy Friday 🩵

My response to the Liberals negative advertising campaign.

Excluding dental from Medicare is a 5-decade old mistake. It would cost $11bn/yr to give all Australians basic dental care - way less than the $45 bn we lose in productivity from emergency and untreated dental issues - and the $14.5bn/y our government spends on subsidising fossil fuel industries.

25,000 doors knocked in Kooyong and counting! What an incredible achievement by our dedicated doorknocking volunteers! Week after week, they're out there with me, connecting with the community and hearing what's on the minds of the people of Kooyong.

This week alone, the Oz and AFR have highlighted calls from the gas industry, logging lobbyists, gambling and alcohol industries to stop independents from getting elected.

Australia needs nurses, pharmacists, teachers…, but fewer students are starting degrees. HECS debts are too high. Sensible education reform will price degrees on future earning capacity, and support students while they gain the skills our country needs. www.theaustralian.com.au/higher-educa...

The out-of-pocket cost of seeing a specialist is out of control in this country. If re-elected this year, I’ll be working on ways to increase transparency around the cost of care, and to improve accessibility and affordability of medical, dental, and mental heath care in Australia.

Globally, solar and wind are being installed at a rate 5 times faster than all other energy sources combined - in 2024, new solar capacity installation was 100x that for nuclear. Internationally, the markets have spoken on the clean energy transition. (source: ISES)

So many wonderful doorknocking sessions this long weekend! Thank-you to the many passionate, dedicated volunteers out and about, talking and listening in the suburbs of Kooyong in the last few days. It's been great to be out with you - I owe you all a pine-lime Splice or two.

Really concerned by news of the serious accident near Lismore involving two ADF vehicles. Those involved are there to help others. We hope for the very best for them all, and thank the first responders working to care for them.

Happy International Women’s Day! I’m so thankful to be surrounded by so many inspiring women in my life. Today, and beyond, we celebrate the diversity and empowerment of women everywhere. Let’s continue to accelerate action for gender equality, and pave the way to progress worldwide.

Another big week out and about in Kooyong.☀️

Join me for my next Town Hall Meeting - Q&A. With the federal election just around the corner, I want to hear directly from you about your concerns, hopes, and ideas for the next parliament. Your voice matters. Together we can shape a better future for our community and our country.

So many great conversations this week out and about in the streets of Kooyong. Doorknocking is the BEST way to tap in to your community’s thoughts and needs. Looking forward to improving my rubbishy selfie skills with some of these wonderful people again this weekend. ☀️🤳🏡

Order a yard sign! 🪧🩵 We have wonderful volunteers out delivering yard signs every day… If you’ve got one, please tag me @mon4kooyong- I’d love to see it. So great to be out painting the town teal again today! To order your yard sign, visit the link in my bio!

The Australian economy is too dependent on income tax. Bracket creep increases taxation - by stealth. Along with other crossbenchers, I’m calling on the government to index tax brackets - to get rid of what can be an active disincentive to increasing working hours and income.

Nuclear’s too slow, too expensive, and will stop us hitting our climate targets. It was a really valuable experience to be a member of the parliamentary nuclear committee. We heard from the experts, industry and investors. They want certainty in the energy transition. Nuclear’s not the answer.

The Parliamentary nuclear committee's interim report on nuclear power in Australia was released yesterday. It concluded that nuclear power would be too slow, too expensive, and hinder the transition to renewables and net zero.

Today the Climate Change Authority has come out and said that the Coalition nuclear energy proposal is equivalent to adding ‘two Beetaloo basins’ worth of emissions into the atmosphere. We simply can’t keep looking away from the climate crisis. It’s here and it’s accelerating.

It’s great to see the state govt responding to sustained community pressure, and reducing the scale of buildings in the Camberwell Activity Zone. www.theage.com.au/politics/vic...
