I think games like Devil May Cry or Sifu have the best kind of difficulty incentive. It's less about "can I do it at all" and more about "Okay, I did it... but I bet I can do it better and make it look cooler next time" The challenge is still in there, but it's not a hard roadblock.

the John Wick universe is what you get if someone explained everything about Vampire: the Masquerade except that the characters are vampires

I'm planning to get back to making Exalted cheat sheets to provide something more compact than the usual ones. Might as well drop the three I've already made some time ago. #Exalted #ttrpg

Finally some news I'm happy to hear.

Clair Obscur buffed the Easy mode with bigger defence windows and greater damage reduction, which is a fantastic choice, and I hope it will enable many more people to enjoy this absolute gem. "For those who come after."

remembering a bunch of fake screenshots of FFT floating around with Ramza saying various leftist things and it seems plausible he could have said most of them.

A fun thing about Exalted is that I haven't yet figured out a way to explain anything about Creation without going on a tangent involving the primordials and the Divine Revolution. I am certain a way exists, it's just clouded for me.

Good morning✌️🍀

There's an evil twin to "has only ever played 'Dungeons & Dragons' and thinks all TTRPGs are as complicated as D&D" that lives somewhere in the vicinity of "went straight from D&D to rules-light storygames and thinks D&D represents the high end of TTRPG complexity". Like, buddy, you have NO IDEA.

That’s not the rule and you know it.

Gm!

The article already mentions Ciaphas and Amberley, but, IMO doesn't mention it hard enough: I bet a good bunch of people would go nuts for spicier Cain and Vail stories. Make it happen, Black Library, you cowards!

Co-signed. It is LONG PAST TIME for 40k romance novels, the setting is INCREDIBLY well suited for them. But it's also the world's easiest prediction that a substantial segment of the fandom will throw a cataclysmic screaming tantrum if GW ever actually licensed them.

Respectfully losing my shit at the announcement of Owlcat's Dark Heresy. I've mostly ignored their Rogue Trader through no fault of its own, but I've been waiting for a video game version of Dark Heresy for what must be some fifteen years now and god damn it, I'm excited.

Clair Obscur's real heroes came before Expedition 33 aftermath.site/clair-obscur-j...

Finished Clair Obscur, sans the endgamiest optional boss. What a game. Damn.

this is indistinguishable from a dril tweet

I am considering replying to bad-faith discussions of video game difficulty options by using the same logic for graphics settings. "Oh, you played above 720p30? Then you didn't really play the game as intended, it's supposed to be a challenge, you played in baby mode for babies".

"It breaks my immersion" is a kind of phrase that sounds smart, but doesn't really say anything useful. Just spend a minute thinking what actually bothers you and say that instead. "I can't engage with it", "it's unconvincigly integrated", even "I don't like it" all convey more information.

👺

you know who else came from chicago and was on "a mission from god"

“American Pope from Chicago” sounds like a Tubi movie.

Just realized what this reminded me of: the only Tweet I have saved on all my machines

The difficulty spike in Act 3 of Clair Obscur is very unfun for me, which is deeply annoying because I'd had a ball up to this point.

“This transaction…” Ghouls all around us.

Twórca niszowych opinii, o, to brzmi dobrze.

We're getting pizza and I'm obsessed with this slightly broken mural that used to be about eating with your hands but now it reads like Saruman's manifesto

Video game crimes #2: games which don't let you simply retry a repeatable minigame, and instead make you click through the same "you failed" and "pick a challange" dialogues over and over again. Just let me retry or quit, for fuck's sake.

Freshly in Act II. This game is a masterpiece.

Clair Obscur has many great things to it, but I think my favourite non-mechanical aspect of it are the performances. I adore how natural they all feel, with all the quirks of natural communication like odd intonations, stumbling over words, or sometimes goofy facial expressions. Absolute cinema.

Really when you get down to it, a bisexual omnivore is the ultimate lifeform as they can eat anything they want.

Clair Obscur is a damned fun game. 5h in, I can't wait for the weekend to come so that I can dump many more hours into it.

did you know we make small commissions? what you get: a scan of a drawing of your pet. what we get: money. and joy of drawing little creatures what we draw: small pets, cats, dogs, may try rabbits and any round-ish thing cost: €20 per sketch
