In the 1840s a white mob turned almost 400 Black settlers away from Mercer County land purchased on their behalf. A geography class at Miami University has mapped the land they were denied, but lawmakers are struggling to figure out how to atone.

This guy absolutely cooked us.

This is insane. I didn’t think they’d actually do it because that’s not how place names work.

enough is enough. democratic leadership in congress needs to act now and text me saying they need five to ten dollars

We all need to be reading WIRED

There’s a red bellied woodpecker at the feeder outside of my window, and he is untroubled by all the recent and ongoing insanity in our country. I’m so envious.

Beautiful writing and a call to do more than lick our wounds.

Oh man, now I want Ohio to issue a General Sherman plate.

Dynamite reporting from @propublica.org; they obtained never-before-seen correspondence showing the drive to insinuate vouchers in schools going back decades. Also worth noting Voinovich was fabulously corrupt even by Ohio’s standards and is in Hell. www.propublica.org/article/scho...

Ohio State & ND fans are virtually identical: We're both passionate dead-enders, we often live in the past & none of us attended Notre Dame.

"America is being taken over by giant concrete boxes. Ohio has 172 data centers. It sounds so simple to have all of our electronic devices and magically store our information 'in the cloud.' But they are not fluffy wisps across the sky. They are concrete."

Mike's book "Jewish Space Lasers" explained the centuries-long history of how Marjorie Taylor Greene came to blame wildfires on fictional direct energy weapons instead of climate change. Yesterday, Mike's house burned down from climate-induced wildfires. Please buy his remarkable book.

I realize that some folks avoid grocery store sushi but I’ll be damned if they’re not like the postal service - that Kroger sushi chef was working away, despite the snowstorm.

Airport gate agent just asked us to applaud for the military. Just once I want to be asked to applaud for a social worker or nurse or basically anyone else who also contributes to our society.

I see people musing that the vibe here has changed, and I would urge people to remember that there's a lot of anxiety about the change of administration in two weeks and that's going to leak into a lot of other places in one's life. Be as gracious as you can with yourself and others.

This is extraordinary reporting and scary stuff.

I guess I’ll take good news wherever I can find it.

I don't know who all this for: you have to be willing to accept the fact that you are aging to accept the gifts that come with it.

To honor one of the most compassionate Americans we've ever known, consider an act of kindness today, for a loved one or even a stranger, however small. Be the reason someone feels seen today. Sometimes all it takes is a kind word or a sincere gesture. It will make Jimmy smile.

My Christmas cracker had the best joke I’ve ever heard?

As a veteran of many, many disappointing and solo holiday seasons, my thoughts are with anyone struggling this time of year. There are a lot of us without families or support networks, I promise you are not alone. Make yourself comfortable. There can be peace and quiet and it will get better. ❤️

Every time I visit my son, I claim this mug because I feel so SEEN.

All of Creed's songs are about Jesus which makes them christmas music

A reminder to anyone trapped in an airport due to weather conditions right now: You have a right to stay in a nearby picturesque village while the airline sorts out a rebooked flight for the 27th. They also have to provide a widowed lumberjack for you to fall in love with. Know your rights.

Name a non-LOTR character that could resist the One Ring.

I think I’ve read this three times. Get this book!

The road to fascism is lined with people telling you to stop overreacting. Yet sometimes, it's just unambiguously and unarguably laid out black and white.

I’ve been waiting for this for WEEKS. Had to re-read previous years to tide me over.
