I don’t think it has.

“How’d you like it, geez?” “Short back and evil, please.”

Staking his leadership on bland but effective management and moral seriousness is risky, since politics is driven by passion, morally messy, and not known for competence. Congrats on the new job btw. I assume These Times won’t be returning in its original form.

Your username, actually. I should’ve clocked much sooner, not least because my father called it me for years.

The real death panel.

Child fatality stats are the most startling. Pre 20mph limit = 4 deaths over 3 years, post 20mph limit = 1 death over 3 years; no % change in control group (unlike other categories).

I think it’s called murder-suicide.

I first heard this term at least 6 years ago from an in-law working in the arts in London. I’ve not heard it since, and it’s definitely not penetrated the NHS. While sympathetic to its intentions, I think it’s a terrible term and just more fuel for reactionaries.

Some interesting comments by young people on the Guardian website. Makes me think that the Bluesky demographic might be a fair bit older.

For some reason I heard the headline in my head being spoken by Adam Curtis.

It’ll be near impossible to confirm his identity but X could at least suspend or ban him. That’s what would happen on most internet messaging boards. The 4 chan-ification of Twitter doesn’t show any sign of stopping.

“St Paul’s is one of the original nine English public schools investigated by the 1861 Clarendon Commission… However, the school successfully argued that it was a private school and consequently should be omitted from the Public Schools Act 1868, as did Merchant Taylors’…”.

I wasn’t aware of the reduction until seeing your posts on Bluesky. Perhaps this could be amplified on @therestpolitics.bsky.social

This reminds me of a piece in the LRB about how the soon to be ‘Greatest Generation’ were considered feckless by the preceding generations.

I wonder what @holland-tom.bsky.social would make of this?

Thanks for your contributions. It amazes me how people with the same goal (helping patients) can be so divided and hostile to one another. Surely we can come to agreed methodologies for exploring these nuanced issues. More adversarial research collaborations would surely be helpful in this regard.

Thank you. How much of an impact could this new role have on the region? Has it impacted West Yorkshire so far?

He has more muscle in the left picture and less body fat in the right picture. He was inspired by his bodybuilder wife, so presumably she likes it.

One of the most powerful indictments of Trump 2.0.

Tactical pivot to distance himself from toxic Trump brand and establish his credibility as potential PM. He’s got the electorates attention, now he’s trying to show that he’s not too mad to lead the country.

This made a laugh: “The Collinses also employ corporal punishment in disciplining their children, which is based on Simone's personal observation of lions and tigers during a safari trip.”

I was referencing “only 22% of participants completed at least four of seven modules, a completion rate which has been identified as necessary for prevention”, which references another trial. But I agree with your points.
comment in response to post
Regarding ‘work’, it looks like the minimum effective dose is 4 modules. There’ll be many potential reasons why participants didn’t reach that point.

Hilarious. Murray insulted by having to share the floor with Smith. Rogan insulted because he thought both Murray and Smith were experts. Then various non-experts (eg Kisin) weighing in on who counts as a legitimate voice.
comment in response to post
Interesting that the high engagement group (4+ modules out of 7) showed a significant difference in depression symptoms compared to the control group.

Amy Hardy has recently shown that a subset of people with psychosis benefit from trauma focused CBT, improving both their trauma and psychosis. 4/4

That being said, a neutral or positive term will become associated with stigma if those with these underlying experiences continue be to treated poorly. This happened with the term psychosis, which was originally seen as a positive replacement for existing stigmatising labels (see Sommer). 3/
comment in response to post
Schizophrenia is a modern construct, but the oldest record of psychosis (epileptic psychosis) is from the second millennium BC (see Kinnier Wilson). Interestingly, ICD-11 has narrowed the duration threshold for schizophrenia from 6 months to 1 month, which could both decrease and increase stigma. 2/

Pat McGorry, a pioneer in early intervention for psychosis, has long questioned schizophrenia as a construct, instead preferring a dimensional approach to psychosis. But he still advocates a slow, low dose trial of an antipsychotic for acute psychosis. 1/
