Whitewashing removes representation from minorities, in short. It's never done out of wanting representation, it's done out of malice. When people do black edits, they're doing it out of a desire to be seen. It's all about intentions.

My fault for not attaching what the OP said after- it'd help with context.
The point of the comic is to complain about "blackwashing" which, simply put, is not real. Comparing this to whitewashing, which is done to strip POC of ethnic features for the sake of forwarding racism, is a genuine issue.
