This touches on a big problem we have w capitalism conceptualizing art & tech as products: Nowadays "products" are developed based on the idea of humans as standalone entities. Isolating us from natural processes/organic cycles we are intrinsically tied to. AI is just the most recent iteration

When people talk about "sincerity" in art when they just mean "nice feelings" and not "sincerity of feeling and willingness to be vulnerable with/about/through art" it makes me so tired 😌

HEARTBREAKING: Person with 20+ unfinished projects has a new idea for a project.

Since I know at least a few moots are US govt/former govt workers, a useful reddit post on how to contact journalists to get eyes on your situation/give them context for why they should cover it: www.reddit.com/r/fednews/co...

I was today years old when I finally started using my local library to request books they don't have yet. I hope librarians mean it when they say to take advantage of this feature. Otherwise I'm about to become their most annoying patron

Even as a member of a couple, we spent Valentine's Day with friends. Highly recommended! There's already anniversaries for romance; no reason we can't make Valentine's a day for celebrating friendship

From Carl Sagan’s The Demon Haunted World, as relevant today as ever! This book is gripping, amazingly well written and poignant. Also full of hope. Also, I can only hear it in his voice in my head, haha~ #science #amReading 🪐📚

My name is commonly misspelled by leaving out a letter. I used to passive aggressively write that one letter bigger and bigger until people finally noticed it was supposed to be there. Anyway, ᴸᴳᴮT

These leopards are really doing a "see how many faces we can get away with eating before everyone turns on us" speedrun

Everywhere I look, people are losing their jobs, or hung out in terrifying limbo. At this point, Trump *better* actually be planning a permanent coup. I can't imagine how he expects to get any of his cronies reelected on the back of this many Americans losing work directly due to his actions.

just a reminder that alt text is not for your punchline, please actually describe what’s in the picture. simple is fine. imagine you’re on the phone describing it to your friend. “it’s the screenshot from when [character] does [thing] in [tv show]” is an example

The article talks about how AI companies have more money than God and can weather the storm of long court cases. But, with just how much data was scraped into AI... How *many* court cases could they weather, all at once? In succession?

Cozy writing sprint stream while I edit here in...roughly an hour or so. Come join me and/or give a follow to support me for future streams twitch.tv/anotherindie...

Not to be a weirdo or anything, but this pre-launch page has 89 followers right now, and it would be like... hella cool if we hit a hundred before it launches 👀👉👈

Only three days left in the sale and the reverse sale. By my quick math, I only need to sell 3 more books on Itch to hit my arbitrary funny goal. Help me celebrate my name change and get sapphic sci-fi while you're at it! Plus there are cheaper books on Smashwords #booksky #authors 🌈📚 #bsnm 🧡🦄📚

An underdiscussed way Musk is getting away with all this? It's bc way too few ppl in the US are tech literate. From regular voters to actual members of Congress, so many people couldn't even BEGIN to tell you what Elon's actually doing. Much less understand his actions in any larger tech context

One way sff fiction has really failed to prepare us for fighting the rise of fascism? All the stories are about huge battles and violent purges. No one explained when the dictator just... decides to take over, it won't feel much like anything has changed at all. Not for most people. Not at first

So, just to make sure I'm understanding: Since the Trump administration's takeover less than a month ago & resultant downsizing of the already-overtaxed FAA... There have now been THREE (3) fatal plane crashes in US airspace? Am I getting this right???

There’s a particular trans woman I hope to donate to tomorrow if we get a few more donations

Okayyyy! So! The lack of any answers so far is, umm... maybe a little bleak. Everyone's challenge now? Write something that's queer inclusive, romantic, but not smutty. So that next time we do this, we've actually got some books to promote/recommend! 📚

With the current discourse about how some people just want to read books that are: •Romance-heavy •No smut/open-door scenes •No religious/sex negative/puritanical themes •Bonus points for being queer Can we use this as an opportunity get some recs going in the comments? 💙📚 🌈📚 ⏰📚 🌈💜 #romancelandia

Every review of AI is like: This isn’t very useful and it makes it harder to do simple tasks than if I just did it myself. Riddled with errors. Can’t see anyone using this. I feel stupider having tried this. That said I believe it will soon make human cognition redundant and eradicate us all.

Anyway now that I've contributed something to the daily garbage fire panic storm, I'm going to attempt to stop doomscrolling. And maybe actually try to have a productive day? Maybe... maybe even get some writing done?? 🤞🏻💻

I don't think I can ever be convinced that Trump is a smart guy. He's not. He's a bully, and not a smart one. Which makes him scarily easy to manipulate. All he's doing is Project 2025 stuff, but HE didn't come up with all that. He just latches onto whoever sucks up to him/can keep him out of jail

CALLING ALL BOOK LOVERS AND SUPPORTERS OF INDIE AUTHORS. I have a website (Indiosyncrasy) that features nearly 150 indie authors currently, organised into multiple categories to help you to find your new favourite indie author AND a podcast (BOOKED) where I interview these authors!

Thought I'd boost this. It's no longer "imminent" chaos, but the idea holds. #writerscommunity #reading 💙📚 #booksky

Hey queer scholars, writers, & readers on the 🦋 site: I'm looking for recs for pre-21st century novels by trans writers (particularly I'm looking for post-WWII up to 1999). I'd also love recs for 20th century novels by queer writers that depict non-cis characters. Thank you! 🌈🎓 🌈🚀💫 #queerwriters

Yeah I was coming on here to posts something grim and a little defeatist, but. Actually the world truly cannot be all bad because MY GOD. LOOK AT THIS

The International Institute of St. Louis has been badly affected by the federal government cutting off funds, including not receiving $1.1 million of reimbursement for services already provided for recently arrived immigrants- they're at $46,832 raised of $500,000, if you can please chip in a little

I keep wanting to set up starter packs for anyone who might be fleeing from other places. But the reality is I barely know what I'm doing at any given moment, and probably should NOT be in charge of most people's first impression of this or any other site lol

So I actually read the article for once, lol, and the headline is a little misleading. He's suggesting websites/content sites get the option to opt in/out to getting scraped by AI bots and by which ones. Allowing them to charge AI companies for access, and have control of their content by default.
