I dunno I feel like a lot of the viral stories of "Trump voter suffers consequences, regrets vote" are stories that aren't quite that but are forcibly squeezed into that mold for people hungry to hear that kind of story

The kind of demagoguery that always works like a charm is the kind where the world revolves around your listener, and the group you want them mad at thinks about them all the time and how to upset them, and never needs to actually pee or wants to play sports but only does it to upset your listener

You know how we always ask why the right gets upset about trans stuff since it's other people doing stuff on their own time that doesn't affect them? That's not how outrage mongers sell it to them, it's framed as trans people "invading your spaces" intentionally to upset you for some reason

Basically the same way you start fights at school, you go to each person and ask them if they heard what the other person has been saying about them. You don't tell them what unrelated business the other person is doing on their own time

All the social conservatives hated the tech bros back when everyone had stars in their eyes about silicon valley and startups and had no bad words to say about them, and the narrative was that the tech guys mostly looked down on real America and not "the woke"

The ghost of Richard Nixon is following you around serving as a tutorial guide and giving you bad advice and every time you do something right he grumbles "oh sure sure hindsight is 20 20 isn't it smart guy"

I assume they come up with arbitrary challenges and achievements and hard modes like killing 50 dinosaurs in 5 minutes or 8 kills without touching the ground or with corks on the end of your blades

My frustration comes from the fact I really do want to see bad consequences happen to these people that actually have anything more than a momentary impact on them and every new drama teases that's going to happen and then pulls the football away

Every time we get excited like "oh they're fighting, they're fighting" nothing ever comes of it, they don't destroy each other, or even do any lasting damage, they just create a lot of drama and get a lot of attention, and don't even really miss a beat in continuing to do bad things to everyone else

None of the Republicans or Trump allies that turn against him ever seems to really get punished the way you would want to see it, they just get threatened with punishment and then they roll over and try extra hard to be good

I guess Portal and Portal 2 address one of each

Like it's pretty obvious which approach is more tempting if you really want the votes that badly but are not sure you can actually get anything concrete done
