Thank you! π Wolfwalkers and other projects of this studio ARE unique and beautiful, these are just different styles in the end

Thank you! Hopefully someday we'll have more decorative popular media and people won't be so fixated on one thing (as i said before, the studio style is amazing and unique, it's just that our styles are different)

Thank you for your support π I don't really care if I'm considered original or not, I'm not trying to make it my goal. It's just that many comparisons are really tiring.

Nah, I have much more pressing issues right now, this was just the last straw and I wanted to whine a little. :'D

Because you don't want to understand. You want to argue and when you receive answers you don't like, you block and write again how you don't understand.
comment in response to

...So you really complain that "there is no room for conversation here" and then block the person who replied to you with no insults? No room for conversation, indeed.

You may consider me unoriginal, uninteresting or mediocre, and that will be your right! But for me, my work is an important part of my life, no matter how unoriginal it may be. And if I said that I don't like it - I don't like it. I rarely write such things, the last time was literally 8 years ago.

Especially when X doesn't even look like your work (and as you can see from the comments, a lot of people have already said that these styles are not similar). You may agree with this or not, everyone is different. But I just don't like it when people reduce my work to a carbon copy. >

But you also get 1-2 messages every day "I see you were inspired by X, oh I see you watched X, oh you probably like X". Especially when you didn't even watch this X at the time of creating your illustrations. >

I agree, you are right - style is formed by MANY factors (of course, if you do not go down the path of copying one source). But here comes the problem. You learn many things from different sources, refer to old art and bring your own emotions, observations and ideas over many years of creativity. >

Because many artists don't like it when their work is constantly tied to this or that popular media. Especially when this media has nothing to do with their work. I never claimed that my style appeared out of nowhere and without influence from anything. >

It's okay if you don't understand something. There's no need to be the emotion police. π

Unfortunately, this is a situation of "ornament = ornament". When I drew my comic with northern motifs (I am originally from Siberia and was inspired by northern ornaments) - people came and called it "Korra, Avatar"

Yes, unfortunately many people see art as "this is Mona Lisa, this is Van Gogh" and donβt know about all the variety of beautiful things that exist in the world. Not because they are stupid, but simply because it has not even entered their field.

Thank you guys for all your support. I know it's all really small stuff, but it was the last straw on top of all the big things in my life that I can't even write about. So I wanted to at least speak out a little bit.

Thank you! I know people usually don't mean it badly and I usually don't pay attention to comments like that, cause I get a lot of them (like A LOT). But this was one of those days when it was the last straw and I just wanted to whine a little :(

My style is drawn from a lot of sources and although I admire Celtic art, itβs ornaments have always been difficult for me (I've had commissions in the past to recreate Celtic patterns and style and I found them quite difficult to do because I kept trying to mix ;-; )
comment in response to

Many people do not see the difference between the ornaments of different cultures and it makes me sad that we have so few media that cover the diversity of art from different countries. :(
comment in response to

I just think itβs because we donβt have a lot of popular βornamenticalβ media. :(
I mean, I think if I suddenly became more interested in, for example, Chinese motifs and began to draw my anthro characters in Chinese clothes/ornaments, many people would call it βKung Fu Pandaβ

You are trying to explain to me what I already know. I just shared on my acc what has been irritating me for the past YEARS and you start to prove to me that I should not feel these or those emotions. Whether you like it or not, whether you think I am right or not, I feel them. This is how it works.
comment in response to

I think you are being egoistical right now because you come with the attitude "I don't see anything rude in this!" and try to prove to strangers how they should feel.

When your life's work is reduced to the same comparison every day at least 1-2 times a day, it can be frustrating and annoying. I never said that my style is UNIQUE and came out of nowhere, but I am still human and it can be annoying to be credited with things that I did not use as reference.

Thank you! Whenever I post my decorative artworks, people write to me OFTEN (I mean at least 1-2 times a day) that they see me inspired by Wolfwalkers. It's a great cartoon from a great studio, but I hadn't even seen it when I drew these illustrations and itβs kinda annoying.
