Speaking of Lab Week...you might find some cool lab-themed stickers over on Morticia's Lab. You know..if you're interested in that sort of thing. And if not, well that sucks for you. morticiaslab.com/collections/...

Happy Lab Week to the med lab squad! May your QC always be in range and your microtainers unclotted. 🧫🧪🔬

Paenibacillus dendritiformis is captivating. Just look at that colony morphology! This "social" microbe forms dynamic communities that behave like a multi-cellular organism; with specialized cell differentiation, communication and linguistics. It reminds us what we can achieve when we work together.

The horrors persist but so do we. We are not the first people to be here, we aren't the first scientists to be persecuted, we aren't the first citizens to be oppressed. We have footsteps to follow, and shoulders to stand on! Fascism wins when you lose hope. To joyful persistence, my friends! ❤️‍🔥

If you're looking for book recommendations, The Furies by Elizabeth Flock has easily been my favorite read of 2025. Three incredible stories of sisterhood, resilience and a beautiful reminder that we make our own justice, we keep each other safe.

Fusobacterium nucleatum is a fascinating troublemaker. This organism is ubiquitous in the human mouth, making it a symbiotic member of the healthy, human microbiome! However, it may play a role in endometriosis, colorectal cancer and has even been implicated in preterm birth and neonatal sepsis.

Good morning, good morning! Get up, get out of bed Rise and shine, go fight for right Democracy’s not dead!

Did you know I have exclusive educational content that you can access for as little as $1 a month?👀 I've posted videos explaining (debunking) the "hygiene hypothesis", showing you how to make fungal smears and reading from 100+ year old medical texts! Check out morticiaslab.com

New tapeworm species (genus Rhinebothrium) were just described and uh...I'm just going to say it. It's a really good day to not be a stingray because what the fuck is that. (Scolex of Rhinebothrium palmeri. SEM, 300 uM) #microbiology

I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped

Anyone doubting or downplaying what is currently happening to US science would do well to brush up on Lysenkoism and how it destroyed Soviet science and agriculture.

"Science is like a love affair with nature; an elusive, tantalizing mistress. It has all of the turbulence, twists and turns of romantic love, but that's part of the game." - Vilayanur Ramachandran

Pass it on: The Resistance is alive and well and angry. Reports of our demise might have been premature

The @standupforscience.bsky.social DC rally is on. What we are hearing from around the country: "this is big!" "biggest rally I have seen around here in years and years" The public cares about medical research--and students, GenZ, and other people too are ready to stand up.

The stakes are just too high.

Glyphosate has 30+ years of data that it doesn’t pose health risks. DID YOU KNOW? Glyphosate LD50 is 5,600 mg/kg Caffeine LD50 is 200 mg/kg Caffeine is 28 TIMES MORE TOXIC than glyphosate AND you actually ingest it at measurable levels. 1/

@kkjetelina.bsky.social is always great, but this figure on the increasing probability of risk of an H5N1 bird flu pandemic is particularly helpful. yourlocalepidemiologist.substack.com/p/h5n1-updat...

This scrum of pot-bellied, sunken-chested betas trying to bully an all-black clad badass Eastern European wasteland survivor while dressed like Men’s Wearhouse mannequins is peak cinema.

We are heartened by this call to action in Nature, one of the most respected journals in science. It urges the global scientific community to speak out on behalf of those being censored and support research as the US government shifts away from its historic leadership www.nature.com/articles/d41...

It is NOT normal to have measles deaths in a country with vaccine access and healthcare. RFK Jr is a liar. If you want to know what the measles outbreak means for you & your family & what action items you can take, I cover that in today’s article. ⬇️ news.immunologic.org/p/the-first-...

When it really comes down to it, the pro and anti-science crowds disagree on one, simple point: whether or not one dead child is too many.

The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

Good morning ppl! If you remember history, the blitzkrieg failed because they out ran themselves and could not backfill the issues it created. Doge’s “dumbkrieg” is having the same issues. We are beating those fucks down! And yes, I’m coining the word Dumbkrieg. Fucking use it. Mock their asses!

“The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker.” Helen Keller, The Story of My Life Good morning, friends. Keep pushing!

Never in my most pessimistic moments did I expect the response to modern biotechnology saving countless lives in a pandemic to be a powerful elite captured by a conspiracy theory and dismantling our defenses against the next one out of some misguided notion of revenge

Did you know you are 840x more likely to get sick from drinking raw milk than pasteurized milk? 96% of foodborne illness attributable to dairy is caused by unpasteurized milk despite only 3% of the population consuming it.....yet they lie to you and insist it is healthier. 😱

Hey #Idaho. Apparently a Boise business owner decided to do the nazi salute at a conference. This happened at the Boise Center and it was the president of ESI Construction. Here's the video. www.reddit.com/r/Boise/comm...

A lone Mycena, likely Mycena haematopus, the bleeding bonnet mushroom, grows out from underneath a layer of mud along a bank and corrects its direction by sensing gravity. The act of this is called gravitropism! 🙃🙂 🍄📷 📸🎞 🌿🌱 🩸 🍄‍🟫 🍄 📷

Lokiarchaeota provides a reminder that life doesn't really give a shit about human mechanisms of classification, and rarely fits perfectly into them. This complex archaea has features of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms, and is described as "bridging the gap" between the two.

I'm actually still obsessed with the Kendrick halftime show lol

Happy Friday, everyone 🥳✨ Just letting you know there's a new post at morticiaslab.com 🦠🧫
