I think Dr Jessica Knurick is one of the best I’ve seen in the field of public health / nutrition. She really does meet people where they are and help dispel the fear they feel.

Thank you for collating these stories here.

Oooh I hadn’t even seen that information. There are a lot of bad things happening, we need to focus our energy on what’s real.

Agree. I saw a post that my governor (IN) “banned” Dolly Parton’s imagination library program here. Sounded weird so I fact checked it, and turned out he just defunded it from the state budget. Still bad and I’m mad he did that, but it’s a far cry from banning it in the state!

I miss being able to listen to that album.

I worry about this! I used to love babies but now my 2yo is infinitely more interesting and fun. Anytime I interact with a <12mo I think they are boring comparatively 😬

Let’s be accurate about what’s happening. He cut the funding for the Imagination Library from the latest budget talks. He did not “ban” the program. I think it’s horrible that he cut the program and it will harm kids, but it’s important to not spread misinformation.

Wouldn’t it better for humanity if we invested in actual education so that “self learners” didn’t have to simulate critical thought?

Personally I think it’s fine to be slightly annoyed by frequently changing linguistic standards and the over-emphasis on vocabulary among the left. But the fact that this is a salient political issue is the result of centrist pundits refusing to spot a classic, obvious right-wing op.

It’s not that nobody has “bothered,” it’s that it’s highly unethical to do a clinical study to see if a drug might damage fetuses.

More like, the Senate is willing to watch the destruction of our public health institutions because DJT told them to.

Anti-intellectualism is key to fascism. It creates the chaos and ignorance they need and contributes to the destruction of reality. If you can’t believe the experts, you end up turning to the loudest & first to speak. We need a robust structure of scientific support independent of power structures.

like, i'm barely being glib saying that there's a non-trivial amt of people out there whose politics are loosely just 'i want to be able to say the r-word loudly in public like i used to'

That makes so much sense to me. We’re thinking about a second and trying to do the math and… it doesn’t math.

This is what I missed about old Twitter before they pushed blue check replies to the top - reading the hilarious replies was the best part! It’s refreshing to have that back.

You will never, ever convince the Times or anyone else to announce that they know Musk's true intention. It's literally unknowable and they can always hide behind that. What's more important is the vast trove of verifiable support that Musk has given Nazis.

Senator, yall tried the “let’s play nice” strategy over the last four years and look where it got us. Read the list of EOs he signed on Day 1. We need leaders who will fight what’s coming and stand up for the people!

Somebody’s gotta pay for all those corporate tax breaks. Republicans want to begin with a $192 billion tax increase on single parents:
