Building something new? Guess it's the only option we've got. Views are my own and definitely don't represent my employer, who isn't here yet anyway.

Had several lapses in discipline today. Can probably make do with them...but can't afford too many more this week.

Ohhhhhh Maryland

Starocci 5x!

I still don't think it's been adequately acknowledged how much this could impact the U.S. economy

"Why this is", "how long has this been developing", "why the conditions to stop this didn't occur", and "how we can inoculate ourselves from this developing again", are the questions I'm wrestling with at the moment.

Nobody remade 538's March Madness leverage index, did they?

@weirdhandluke.bsky.social hey, go dawgs

I get at some point that Penn State wrestling will stop setting new records...but damn, 18-0 at nationals (so far!) is insane.

Everything’s fine

Another real depressing night on the timeline. Let's watch Survivor and fill out some brackets instead.

Feels like the courts (at large) had a big day today. Can't wait for it all to be ignored.

one hell of a big red line is being crossed here

I think it’s fair to assert that no Congress before the Trump era would have failed to investigate such cartoonish corruption.

The only slight glimmer of hope here, in theory, is that it's easier to roll back executive orders than laws.

HOW DEM VOTERS HAVE SHIFTED SINCE 2017 “Do you think the Democrats should mainly work with the Republicans to try to get some Democratic ideas into legislation or should mainly work to stop the Republican agenda?” 2017: work with GOP +51% 2025: work to stop GOP + 15% 66% swing

The government funding bill was the 2nd Trump signed into law. Not the second that day, the 2nd bill Congress has sent to the president all year.

arguments over who would get blamed for a shutdown are insane. the median voter has no idea this is happening. the median voter knows one fact about politics and it’s that Donald Trump is the President

10 meetings scheduled today. I can make 9 of them, and I'm pretty anxious about at least 3.

It kills me that we lost to these people. The richest man in the world is systematically dismantling the government and blatantly lying about the savings, and the best defense his supporters can muster is a person doing their data analysis on an etch-a-sketch

More to the point, it takes one senator to deny unanimous consent for a time agreement. The House Dems, the federal workers, everyone opposed to the Schumer Surrender would be happy to have additional time to gather 41 no votes on final cloture. Any senator can do it.

A YES on cloture is a YES for the bill. Do not let anyone play games with you.

I dunno, a lunar eclipse tonight certainly wouldn't portend anything bad happening tomorrow...right?

You did your best, @chrislhayes.bsky.social.

You still have people arguing the Tea Party didn't accomplish anything; meanwhile we've come to accept negotiating over the possibility of the government being shut down or the debt ceiling being breached as a normal part of the legislative process.

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

Just disgraceful.

I don't think it's a coincidence the person with the most courage to take ownership for a failure is also the person I probably blame the least

the us declaring war on solving problems is one of the best ways i’ve heard of framing how this is playing out

The irony is that between DOGE and Trumps tariffs they’re endangering the anchor of a lot of American prosperity, which is centuries of political stability and rule of law which makes a place people want to put capital. None of these dweebs grasp that.

freezing the account for Habitat. these are bad people; they deserve worse things than can be prudently enumerated in a public-facing place.

If this is really the Senate D plan, it's a joke. Come on, @schumer.senate.gov, this is too clever by half. The test is this: If you don't use your power to stop the Trump-Musk reign of lawbreaking and destruction, and instead facilitate it, you've failed. This plan could end up doing the latter.

how many senators saying they'll vote against the CR are going to vote for cloture and think you're stupid
