My elderly aunt used to always buy me a legit night gown for Christmas every year. I thought it was sweet but I put them in a drawer and slept in a t-shirt and soft pants. Pulled out those night gowns recently and started wearing them … and I get it now. ♥️

Are y’all watching these Netflix shows about Belle Gibson, who faked having cancer to sell “holistic wellness” on the socials and convinced people to forego lifesaving medicine? I suspect faking illness happens on many levels all the time, this being the most extreme. 😧

Please help by tagging former members, current members, and former and current staff. I’ll message them the location. I don’t want to leave anyone out. ⭐️

I am trying five cases tomorrow. But my soul is still relaxing on this beach…

This is steepling. People who do it want to project authority, but it’s often derived from insecurity. Watch for steepling. It can tell you a lot about a person. And a lot of people do it.

Still amazed at the way this place made me feel. And I want to go back and feel that again and again. But I also want to go to Zion and Yellowstone and Yosemite… and the North Rim.

#Route66 road trip shots. Maybe my favorite Valentines Day adventure ever! ♥️

Route 66 was everything I hoped it would be!

We made it to the Grand Canyon South Rim for sunrise. And there’s SO MUCH snow! ❄️

Route 66 > Vegas Mitch and I have had an amazing day road tripping! ♥️

I left Hawaii last night to meet Mitch in Vegas for Valentines Day. ♥️ I had forgotten how overwhelming this place is - and so different from the environment I came from. Tomorrow, we rent a car and drive into the comparatively quiet desert. I’m so happy to be back with him!

Sunrise and new beginnings.

This is sea cabbage at sunrise at La’ie Point. It grows typically in salt spray.

One of my favorite photos from Pipe Pro. It doesn’t show the skill of the surfer but it does show the amazing power and beauty of the ocean. 🌊

Today is the Women’s finals too! I got here before the sun came up and picked a spot. Turns out I’m among several of the female competitors and their families! This is going to be a great day! #pipepro

Staked my spot at Pipe Pro before sunrise this morning. Getting some work done in the rain and sand and watching practice before the competition starts. My heart is pounding just seeing the size of these waves today. Also, I smell marijuana from somewhere.

Morning coffee before I found out that Pipe Pro is on today! It’s going to be a great day!!! 🌊☕️

Having my morning coffee with this sunrise view has been such a blessing lately.

Sunrise this morning I was hanging my camera in a tree and had a curious visitor. 😸

When life feels hard, I think of my g-grandparents. They were sharecroppers and about my age here. My g-grandpa was pretzeled from arthritis, yet he picked cotton. They had nothing, but raised the strongest children. I appreciate them more than they could have ever imagined and feel them daily.

Choosing to feel like sunshine. ☀️ And reminding myself that of all the things I cannot control, I can always control my thoughts and my outlook. This is a beautiful life and a beautiful earth that’s been entrusted to us.

My coworker is an immigrant from Afghanistan. She said “I survived three wars. If you have lentils and water, we can get through this. I will make sure.”

Gisèle Pelicot’s ex-husband, imprisoned for raping and drugging her, was questioned about other cases of rape and murder that he’s suspected in

Had court for most of the day. Then appointments. Took in a new case and decided to work late to get it done. Mitch headed out to run errands and returned with men’s Christmas pajamas from Goodwill for me. He said I didn’t look comfortable in my court clothes (and I hate working late in a suit). ♥️

This weekend, Mitch and I worked into the night to get caught up. Last night, we took a break to go two doors down to the @lataproom803 where a crowd was gathering for karaoke. Here’s Mitch singing Secret Agent Man. 🕶️ We’re so lucky to live and work and play in downtown Lancaster.

Hard to believe how recent this was.

I love to cook for my family and Sunday is such a good day to get in the kitchen and do it! Here’s a pear and gouda grilled cheese. One fell apart, but it’s still delicious! And that was about the tiniest shallot I’ve ever seen! 🍐🧀

Small observation: I’m amazed at how the body heals itself! I skinned a knee. It burned, scabbed over, scabs came off, scabbed again. It’s smaller every day. No longer hurts. Soon will be completely healed and no sign of my ever having a skinned knee. That’s really kind of amazing.

Damn!

In the category of simple pleasures, I just bout myself 3 backscratchers like the ones in every room in my house growing up. They were less than $7 for all. I love the ad illustrations! I should have done this sooner…

Mitch made this meme. He does divorces. It resonates.

I have been trying to predict the new trends based on what I perceive as the zeitgeist. I think people will spend more on beauty (hair, lipstick, nail polish), vintage items (for the nostalgia), and comfort items for their homes (nesting). I hadn’t predicted a drop in champagne sales, but it fits.

We have this great view of our church and it’s especially good in the snow.

Mitch and I started our day in Rock Hill. After spending much of the past few years in the air, I decided it was time we did TSA PreCheck. It was so easy! … And then we got macarons! ♥️

In 2004 my uncle Calvin Blackmon was running for re-election to County Council. I painted his name in individual letters and put them in the windows of the Bank of Lancaster. Today I was in the MLK parade and as we passed by, we saw Mitch had gotten these letters from storage for a new sign! ♥️

Solicitors Office ready for the MLK parade!

Alright New York Times, we’re more than two weeks into 2025 and if Lancaster and Myrtle Beach aren’t on this list, I’m already behind.

After work, I went home to cook supper and Mitch stayed back to work on one more case. He sent me this picture after sundown. It’s the shadow of our office number from the street lights cast on the back door of the big room - with the caption “our office is looking like a Hopper painting tonight.”
