The (current) people who claim to be the champions of manufacturing are the same ones responsible for moving it off shore during the 90s/2000s. It’s not just about regulation and taxes. The knowledge base and feeder industries that were lost may take a generation to regain.

I don’t think long term storage was ever the goal with ssds, it’s all about speed and fixing windows boot time. For archiving I started looking at M Disk DVDs.
